President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday welcomed the Super Falcons who just won the African Women Championship.
The president also fixed an official reception for November 5.
The Nigerian players beat their Cameroon counterparts 2-0 in the final game that was played last Saturday in Windoek, Namibia. That win made it a record seventh time win for the Falcons.
Speaking while receiving the female champions at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, shortly before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, the president said that discipline had brought the female footballers this far.
He thanked them for making the country proud.
“You have shown skill and consummate discipline with which you have made your country proud,” Mr. Jonathan said.
The president and said while the male team had been doing well but were distracted by “internal crisis”.
