Jonathan approves appointment of deputy GMD for nnpc

President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the creation of a new office of Deputy Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC and has also approved the appointment of Mr. Bernard Otti as its inaugural head.
A statement issued by the special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati said the creation of the new office was in furtherance of ongoing efforts to transform the Corporation into a commercially-driven entity.
According to the Presidential Spokesman, “the new office of Deputy Group Managing Director is expected to strengthen the corporate governance structure of the NNPC and help ensure that value for money and return on investment increasingly become key factors in all operational decisions.
Until his appointment, Mr Otti was the Group Executive Director (Finance and Accounts) and as the new Deputy Group Managing Director, he will also double as the Group Executive Director (Finance and Accounts) of the corporation.
