Abducted Nasarawa State governorship aspirant on the platform of the People Democratic Party, Chris Mamman, has been released.
Mamman who was reportedly abducted on Saturday at the Aren Eggon’s palace at Nasarawa Eggon, headquarters of Nasarawa Local Government area of the state said the attack, abduction politically was motivated.
Briefing journalists after his freedom on Tuesday at his campaign office where he addressed his followers, alleged that the attack on him by hired thugs and his subsequent abduction was politically motivated.
Narrating his ordeal, he stated that he was invited by Eggon traditional council for a meeting along with other governorship aspirants from the Eggon extractions and on arrival, some political hooligans assaulted him and threatened to kill him.
Asked why was he attacked, the governorship aspirant stated that he was attacked because of his growing popularity amongst the aspirants, particularly from the Eggon nationality across the state.
He said, “The answer is simple, I am the most popular and the most acceptable of the two contestants from my ethnic nationality.”
He denied allusions making the rounds that he was attacked because of alleged misappropriation of fund belonging to the Eggon Cultural Development Association.
He explained that if not for God’s intervention and security agency that came to his rescue, he would have been a dead man, noting that he has been in the custody of security operatives before he was released.
