2015: Gov Elechi announces Health Minister as successor


Martin Elechi Tuesday, disclosed that the Minister of Health, Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu was the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate for the 2015 general election and his successor as the next Governor of the State.

The Governor made this known during a meeting at the Government House, Abakaliki which lasted over 6 hours with members of the state PDP caucus, lawmakers, stakeholders and youth leaders across the 13 local government areas of the State in attendance.



The meeting provided the platform for all interest groups to air their views over the lingering governorship position which was zoned to Ebonyi south senatorial zone, specifically, Afikpo North LGA where Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu hails from.

According to feelers, the Governor who chaired the meeting said zoning the governorship slot to the South was due to the immense contributions of late Dr. Akanu Ibiam in the state creation as he hailed from the area, Unwana Afikpo LGA of the state.

Meanwhile, thousands of PDP members across the state are set to decamp from the party to join forces with the opposition, especially those politicians nursing the ambition to contest the forthcoming governorship position among other positions in the state.

Meanwhile, a foundation member of the PDP in the state, Senator Anthony Agbo last Friday decamped to the All Progressive Grand alliance, APGA.

Briefing news men in his country home in Ohaukwu local government Area of the State, the Senator who revealed that the forthcoming election would spring up lots of surprises added that the government sponsored candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the forthcoming election will be defeated against all odds.
