2015: APC presidential candidate not bound to emerge from North — Oyegun

National Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, yesterday said the party’s presidential candidate could emerge from the South and not solely from the North as was being speculated.

He declared that President Goodluck Jonathan had “run out of steam”, asserting that “as at today, all those who have indicated interest in one form or another in the Presidency under APC, were capable of beating whoever the PDP presents, including Jonathan.”

Oyegun spoke in Benin City, Edo State, when he hosted Ijaw youths under the aegis of Izon-Ibe Global Policy Network, led by Mr. Ayubalayefa Dennis, when they came to declare their support for the APC, which they described as a progressive party that would find solution to the crisis bedevilling the country.

The APC National Chairman, who also disclosed that he refused to personally attend the National Honours ceremony to receive his Commander of the Niger, CON, award, due to the beating up of judges and lawyers in Ekiti by political thugs, declared that the nation was heading towards anarchy and that the APC had come to the rescue.

He said: “We don’t believe in forced consensus like the PDP has done by saying that Jonathan is its sole candidate. What the PDP did was a forced consensus. I want to challenge anybody to state when it was said that our presidential candidate must come from the North. We have interested persons from the southern part of this country. It is even the PDP that has decided where its candidate must come from. It has even debarred any other person from anywhere from raising his head to say he wants to be president.

“For us, it is an open field. Whoever wants to be president is free to come into the race. In fact, I wish every state can even have a presidential aspirant. The important thing is, so long as they all appreciate that at the end of the day only one person will be the candidate, they will all unite with that one person that emerges. That is what the APC represents and that is what is going to happen.”

  3. The Issue Mr John or whatever you called yourself is the foundation of APC. By the way you cannot deceive us with your words. It does not matter where the APC presidential aspirant will come from after all. You want to tell us that people like Buhari and Atiku will ever and i mean ever allow Southerner to be the flag bearer? You are even confused being in that party. The foundation, the agenda and the system is the problem. Take a look at all the people that constitute the party, they are all having grudges or have a score to settle with someone when they come to power. They never had the interest of Nigerians at heart but theirs. No matter what excuse you all got, we all know you all. Catastrophe is waiting for you all

  4. Controversial APC have lost focus and are confuse-what a shame, The innocent blood of Nigerian corpers Killed by CPC is fighting back revealing the wickedness perpetrated by some members of the party pretending to Hide in APC. Even if their candidate emerge from the moon, APC have failed already, since they don't like good things and Good can not come their way.
