The Federal Government is contemplating the establishment of new Special Brigade Forces in addition to to the existing forces under the Nigerian Armed Forces.
President Goodluck Jonathan said this was needed to combat new security challenges in the country.
The President spoke on Saturday at the passing out parade of officer cadets of the 61 Regular Course and Short Service Course 42 (Army) at the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna.
He said the establishment of the new special forces was to enable the nation’s army to be more alive to its responsibility of protecting Nigerian citizens.
He said, ” In furtherance of our national security objectives, we are establishing a Special Forces Brigade to meet the challenges of new threats in the environment and thereby aligning our armed forces to greater citizen’s protection and national defence.
” For you, the graduating cadets, today marks the end of your rigorous training in the Academy, and the beginning of your careers as officers in the Armed Forces.
“The methodical parade that we have just witnessed is a representation of the tremendous hard work, high standard of discipline and rigorous training you have imbibed.”
He also assured that government was intensifying “ongoing efforts directed at equipping and retooling our Armed Forces for better service delivery even in the midst of funding constraints”. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

Senseless idea huh! If only you had not converted our military and other security outfits to your party thugs, you would have known that there was no need to set up any other special anti-terror unit. Clueless presido
ReplyDeleteMr. Clueless president!! If only you had not turned the Nigerian military and other security outfits into your party thugs, there would have been no need for such thoughts.
