Nigerian star performer in Europe last week, Sylvester Igbonu, says he is banking on his current form to score more goals for his Danish club, FC Midtjylland.
Igbonu scored all three goals on Friday as Midtjylland defeated OB Odense 3-2 in an explosive encounter.
The powerful striker is joint top scorer in Denmark with five goals to his credit as Midtjylland occupy top spot in the Danish Superliga after seven games.
He scored once in the 3-1 away defeat of Sonderjyske , then grabbed the winner in the 2-1 win over Kobenhavn, before hitting a hat-trick on Friday.
“I’m delighted to have scored a hat-trick; my job as a striker is to score goals and I am happy that I am doing that this season,” the 24-year-old said.
“What is most important is that we are top of the Superliga and I am hoping to score more goals to help Midtjylland remain there.”
The former Ebedei United striker hailed his teammates for their hard work on the pitch, insisting that unity was a key factor in Midtjylland’s early form in the season.
“What is important here is that we are one united family. We play as a team. My teammates have been awesome and they make the job easy. It’s not all about me but about the team. We are a united group,” Igbonu added. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

ReplyDeleteOver age! How long can he play? The problem is that many Nigerian players force themselves to play football and were not born to play the game. So, they tire out and have shorter playing years. This is also worsened by age cheats.
