Nigerian Army defeats Boko Haram in Konduga, Borno

The Nigerian Army on Friday in Abuja said its troops defeated more than 100
Boko Haram terrorists who launched an attack on Konduga, Borno, after about three hours of fierce fighting.

The information is contained in a statement signed by Col. Timothy Antigha on behalf of the Directorate of Army Public Relations.

The statement quoted Antigha as saying that the terrorists, at about 5.30 a.m. on Friday, launched a massive attack on Konduga town, about 35 kilometres from Maiduguri.
He said that apart from the staggering lose of men, Boko Haram also suffered extensive lose in equipment.

He added that three Hilux vans and one Buffalo vehicle with mounted anti-aircraft guns, three general purpose machine guns, over 30 AK47 rifles and two global positioning systems were recovered.

“Four soldiers were wounded in action. The entire area is still being combed for terrorists who may have escaped with bullet wounds.
“The morale of troops remains very high,” he said.
Antigha said photographs taken at the scene of the battle were being expected and would be forwarded as soon as they were received. (NAN)
