Jonathan leaves for New York, to meet Obama

President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday left the country for New York in the United States of America to attend the 69th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
His spokesperson, Dr. Reuben Abati, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, stated that the President would return to the country on Thursday after “a brief private” stop-over in London.
Abati stated that while in New York, President Jonathan would attend receptions hosted by President Barack Obama of the United States and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki Moon.
The presidential spokesperson said the President would also address the ‘United Nations Security Council High-Level Session on Threats to International Peace and Security Caused By Terrorist Acts’.
He said Jonathan would also present Nigeria’s statement to the General Assembly on Wednesday.
The statement added, “President Jonathan is also scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Mr. Ban Ki Moon and the British Prime Minister, Mr. David Cameron.
“The President will stop over in London for a brief private visit before proceeding to New York.
