Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Joseph Mbu, has described himself as a lion, who tamed the ‘leopard of Port Harcourt’.
Mbu, who was apparently referring to his clashes with Governor Rotimi Amaechi of River State, when he was the Commissioner of Police in charge of the state, stated that it was only a lion that could tame a leopard.
Mbu, who was recently promoted AIG said this while handing over to the new FCT Commissioner of Police, Wilson Inalegwu, on Monday in Abuja.
He advised his successor to be firm in his dealings with policemen in his command and avoid soiling himself.
“I advise you (CP) to carry the senior officers along in your administration. It is only a lion that can tame a leopard. I tamed the leopard in Port Harcourt, each time he remembers my face, he would remember how I tamed him,” Mbu said, drawing loud laughter from the audience.
He advised Inalegwu to discourage policemen from going for special duties, noting that the obligation of Policemen was to the general public and not to provide protection for only VIPs.
He also urged the new CP not to deal with his personnel with sentiments, stressing that he would fail if he gives unnecessary concessions to the officers and men working with him.
He stated that the Force needs strong leadership to achieve results, adding that he had put the command on a solid pedestal, noting that under him, the command procured 5,000 special raincoats with assistance from the FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed.
According to him, he was able to save N10m from ‘FCT logistics’ and bought two buses to transport the rank and file to their duty posts.
Mbu who is now in charge of Zone 7, Abuja, explained that there was no petition against him throughout his tenure as CP in charge of FCT, because he dealt with the men fairly.
The AIG said, “I have sworn allegiance to Nigeria and to this Police uniform, that anyone who stops me from doing my job, I crush him. The Police at the command needs strong leadership, the moment you started asking your men to bring building materials you have soiled yourself and they will no longer respect you.”
Inalegwu in his response, promised to build on the foundation laid by his predecessor and challenged the officers to relate more with the community. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

I wish the IG go DEPLOY this LION to SAMBISA forest to TAMED B' HARAM.
ReplyDeleteMBU U are now in ABUJA, so pls leave ROTIMI alone.
Nonsense! If you actually said that then you are a stupid fool. You just admitted to the world that GEJ used you and the entire Nigeria police whose salary is paid with tax payers money to fight Governor Amechi. Remember you are a civil servant so better desist from making unguarded political statements, GEJ will not be president forever, Amechi or his personal person may well become president tomorrow and you will come rolling in the mud begging for mercy.
ReplyDeleteHonestly tell me what really makes u come to the conclusion that Mbu was acting out GEJ's script? Amechi is a very arrogant and disrespectful idiot, a lot of persons disagree with him including my humbly self, I criticize and oppose him when he's going astray BUT I have never met GEJ before neither do I have any link to GEJ, so Mr man/woman am I also acting out GEJ's script or am just being myself and thinking like a human being. Some persons think through their anus.
DeleteAnonymous 9:54, it is your mother who thinks through the anus. Your humbly self as you wrote is as anonymous as your profile on this thread, when and if you become a high ranking civil servant and come out publicly to make stupid arrogant politically cased statements in the media then i will answer your question. Until then you are as inconsequential as your smelly anus.
DeleteDats a lie he wil neva berg cos he is doin d rite tin u guys should ask urself y is dat any cp sent 2 rivers state don't angree wit ur amaechi? He has an hiden plan dat has refus 2 com 2 pas dats his annoyance ok and he made mention of Mbu's name 2 days ago ok?
ReplyDeleteHe hopes to become Police IG perhaps before the elections so that he can rig elections for PDP as usual. Yes, he has to be promoted for the good job he did for madam Patience while in Rivers state.
ReplyDeleteHistory it said to be a record of past events. Some did it well today we are talking about them so Mr. Presido and Mbu over to you.
Welldone mr. Lion that. Tamed Tiger, why are you not in the forest to tame Boko Haram? Yeye man, is it a must that all governors must be in PDP ? Mbu cannot tame Alli Modu Sheriff that was indicted as BH sponsorer?
ReplyDeleteIt is only in Nigeria that a gateman assaults the home owner and boast of being a beast...and people like Anonymous 9.54 hails him as "doing the right thing". What is right about a security agent taking sides and brutalizing/rubbishing an elected executive? Is the job of the security agent not to keep peace? Does keeping peace mean brutalizing one side of the conflicting duo? Isn't keeping peace what it is...keep the peace? Shouldn't a peace keeper just mediate, follow the law and apply rules to both sides of the conflicting parties? Wasn't that what we were taught at the police college? When are Nigerians going to do away with unprofitable sacriledge and join the developed world in behaving civilized? And why can't Anonymous 9.54 and all people like him grow up and out of village sentiments and unsubstantiated campign of calumny...and just tell the truth ti every party. Mbu should be fired right now. He should go join MEND.
ReplyDeleteSome sycophant Civil Servants often forgot that they are employee accountable to their employer (general public). If the statement credited to him is true, Nigerian public needs to punish Mr Mbu for negligent statement.
