Confusion as Police break into Rivers high court

There was confusion around the Rivers State High Court premises as scores of policemen escorted the most senior judge of the court, Justice Daisy Okocha, into the premises.

The State High Court, which has been under lock and key since June 10, 2014, due to the strike embarked upon by judiciary workers in the state, was forcefully opened by security operatives.

As at 10am on Tuesday when our newsmen visited the Bank Road location of the State High Court, over 50 armed policemen blocked the entrance of the two gates leading to the court premises with over 16 Hilux vans.

Journalists, who tried to move close to the gates were told by security agent manning the place to step backwards.

The meeting of the state High Court judges led by Justice Okocha was ongoing as at the time of sending this report.

More details later.

  1. This is highly not acceptable by every good thinking person. Police stay off politics or risk public revolution.

  3. How can law you say the law enforcer should stay out. Why is Rivers state different from other state. Does being in opposition give Amaechi the right to destroy the judiciary without anyone stopping him? Justice Okocha is the most senior judge of the High court and was therefore nominated by the CJN. How us that wrong. It's the same thing in all the other states of the federation. Police should enforce the law and the revolution will be against Amaechi. If you have a case pending in the High court in Rivers you'll understand what problems Amaechi has caused. Do u expect the judges of the High court to take orders from the Head of the customary court like Amaechi proposed? abomination.

  4. Another Mbu is back in Rivers State and already acting the script given to him from abuja. If Governor Amaechi survive this one the we should see him as a cat with nine lives backed by God.

  5. why do some idiots think that anyone that have disagreement with Amechi is immediately linked with the President? that's a very stupid way to think. Amechi is very pompous and a well known trouble maker, he has problems with majority of the people in Rivers State and these persons have no link with Jonathan or Patience.
