The immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen General Azubuike Ihejika, on Friday warned that giving undue attention to frivolous and baseless accusations could divert the attention of the country and her security agencies from the challenge to eliminate the scourge of terrorism in the country.
Ihejirika, who was reacting to claims by an Australia hostage negotiator, Stephen Davies, that the insurgents mentioned him and a former Governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sherrif, among the sponsors of Boko Haram.
The former Army Chief made the comment while speaking at a meeting of the Alumini Association of members of Regular Course 18 of the Nigerian Defence Academy, at the National Defence College, Abuja.
Ihejirika said that the insurgents were making moves to exploit the existing diversities in the country to achieve what they have not been able to achieve through violence.
He said, “If this accusation was made in a country like US or UK, it would not be discussed for one hour because they would wave it aside; but they are exploiting our traditional fault lines, a multi-religious, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and young democracy, so what they have tried to do is aimed at achieving what they could not achieve.
“Well, why have I chosen to talk at length; I have chosen to do this because we cannot allow national security to be toyed with; the need for security awareness in spite of the effort I put in at a time and the effort being put by the current leadership of the Armed Forces, the need for security awareness still persist.

Davies, the Australian investigatior appointed by the govt has no axe to grind with anybody in Nigeria. He just said the truth as revealed by BH Field commanders. Let thorough and umbias investigation be made and then the truth be established. Stop condemning the whistle blower.

It is also known that his trusted boys killed gen shuwa.

I do not believe there is anything Ihejirika stands to gain by sponsoring Bokoharam (group believed to be used by those northerners who want power by every means possible from GEJ and hate Ibo for giving GEJ total support). Ihejirika being an Ibo man cannot support Bokoharam to target and kill Ibo (his kins and kith) as we have witnessed. Thinking this way is foolishness. Whoever in this forum that's supporting this Bokoharam and this Northern hired/sponsored Australian Davis is definitely one of them. I believe that Davis was not kidnapped by BK, rather the idea of fake kidnapping was to still deceive the vulnerable Nigerians so will not suspect that he was a paid Mercenary by opposition APC and some wicked, devilish Northern politicians to create confusion, divert attention and mislead Nigerians. By the way what different is this allegation by Davis different from the previous allegations about this BK on Buhari, Atiku, Babangida, El' Rufai, Bunu Sherrif (while in APC) and others? In developed world there are people whose works/professions are to do this type of hatchet mercenary work in different countries. Note British (including Australians - also ruled by Queen of England) and Americans are known for this type of thing.

He was arrested and released on the plead of Queen of England. ReplyDelete2. Taking advantage of ethnic and religious sentiment against Ihejirika, being an Ibo man not liked nor tolerated enough by other Nigerians. They had threaten to take him to war crime court for killing Bokoharam members (Who they referred as their sons and children). We all are witnesses to this, the likes of Nyako, ElRufai, Sultan, Tambuwal, Ango Abdullahi among others made likely comments.
3. To undermine huge achievements made by Ihejirika during his tenure as CAS, we all know if Ihejirika had remained little longer as the CAS, if not for reaching retirement years, BH would have long being forgotten. There was a time he had chased them completely out of Nigeria, then these same people now accusing him was used by Bokoharam to start propaganda, saying GEJ and Ihejirika want to kill all theirs sons (BH members). The noise was a strategy which Jonathan succumbed to and ihejirika was asked to reduce attack. And this act of BH sponsors gave BH time to regroup and relaunch attack against Nigeria. These group of people were the same who threaten the Fed govt of WCC and even went to court in Nigeria against fed govt and Ihejirika for foiling the first rumored Abuja bombing by BH. When Ihejirika was there BH was not able to bomb Abuja, had he remained I feel it would not have happened. This is a CAS of outstanding accomplishments and deserves applaud from us. Compare between then and now on the scale of increased damages and rampancy of deaths by BH.
