9-year-old boy slaughtered to make pepper soup

A 9-year-old boy, Liman Doo Mohammed, who was declared missing on 9 August this year, was killed and used to prepare pepper-soup delicacy, the police in Niger State, northcentral Nigeria, have told journalists.

The incident, which happened in Koso village in Lavun Local Government Area of the state, has led to the arrest of three persons, one of them the paternal grandmother of the boy identified as Fatima Sarki.

According to the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olusola Amore, the family of the late boy had reported to the police that Mohammed was missing on 9 August.

He told newsmen that a source informed the police that the boy was last seen with his grandmother, adding that based on the information, detectives placed a tab on Fatima and arrested her along with her other relations suspected to be involved in the gruesome act.

The state police boss said Fatima confessed to the crime and mentioned Zhitsu Aliyu as the person that slaughtered the boy, while Amina Musa helped to cook the body parts of the boy.

The three suspects are now facing a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide and cannibalism in court.

“The pots and plates the suspects used in cooking and serving themselves with the said cooked human flesh were recovered and are now exhibits,” Amore said.
