President Jonathan as condemned Patrick Sawyer for coming to Nigerian despite the fact that health practitioners in his country warned him to stay back. The president made this statement at the annual Interfaith Conference in Abuja today.
“As a government, we promise that we will do everything humanly possible to contain the Ebola virus’’.
“On Wednesday, I will meet with governor of the states, and they must come with their commissioners of Health along. We must make sure that every state is prepared, where they lack, the federal government will support them.” Continue below.
“My conversation with the WHO DG, Dr Margaret Chan was revealing, she said 60 per cent of the transmission was spread during burials. That is why in my announcement, I’ve been saying that people should be careful about burials.”
“Some people like burial ceremonies. This is not the time for burial ceremony, somebody is dead, he is dead, leave him there. This is not the best time for those ceremonies.”
“If he is dead, he is already dead, Sawyer that brought this Ebola to Nigeria; his sister died of Ebola. And he started acting somehow, his country asked him not to leave the country, let them observe him, but the crazy man decided to leave and found his way here.”

he didn't just find himself here I believe he came through the airport or the boarder, it speaks volume of how porous our country is for anybody to just come in and do whatever they want and get away with it, it certainly can't happen to other African countries, not to talk of European countries. Nigeria wake up.
ReplyDeleteNo blame game here,if you're used to travelling,U'll know the airport officials could not have done much. He was travelling within d ECOWAS region & scrutiny is limited. That may call for a review. The health officials in their country did not do all they should have done. A disease they already know how serious it is,they should have put him in serious confinement with enough supervision. That's all they needed to do.
DeleteForget d lapses @ d borders! D man shd hv stayed @ home. Ebola ws strange to 9ja den dats y there were no checks @ d airport..c innocent pple who hv bin infected for nothing!
ReplyDeletePrince Emma i agree with you.
ReplyDeleteI think it is high time for our leaders to protect and promot the masses' s interest for the good of all. Peace unto Nigeria in Jesus name(amen ).
ReplyDeleteNo Mr. President! You and your govt should have taken the initiative by preventing his entry! Afterall everyone knew the state of Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea!
ReplyDeleteNigerians insist Jonathan and his entire government are crazy for not taking adequate and early preventive measure to prevent all these crises...
ReplyDeleteSomeone came from an ebola rigged country vomiting and we treated him like a normal patient plus taking him to a heavily populated area.... Obalende
GEJ, why r u always in sllow motion? BH cs u took it slow untill it out of control, chibock girls d Same. Now ebola,
ReplyDeleteThe man Sawyer being a medical doctor ought to have heeded the advice of his colleagues and stayed back to be properly observed. He was truly crazy to have come.
ReplyDeleteGod will judge Sawyer for adding ebola to Nigerian problem.
ReplyDeleteAmen. And I hope he burns In hell. He knew exactly what he was doing by coming down here. And he intentionally spread the diesease by urinating on officials after they told him he had the disease( that is if the news was true)
DeleteThere are lots of lapses in Nigeria both at the airports and boarders, Ebola had been in the news lately since March 2014 in some West African countries, but Nigeria as a country will always wait until its too late to act, there are some things that are very worrisome in this country, our airports officials are they not on the know that there is Ebola? the signs of this disease? why would they allow this man enter into town even when he had shown lots of signs at the airport by vomitting, health officials should have been notified immediately. His Ecowas colleagues who came to pick him up, dont they know about Ebola and for the fact that this man flewed in from Liberia an Ebola populated country he should have been checked and stopped. Nigerian leaders please wake up
ReplyDeleteare you sure Sawyer has not been bribed by boko haram
