Former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has taken a swipe on the economic situation in the country under President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration, declaring that Nigerians are back to the late dictator, General Sani Abacha where the middle class was non-existent .
Obasanjo said the prevailing economic situation in the country has shown clearly that the middle-class had been destroyed .
The former President stand this over the weekend when a group of traders visited him at his Hilltop home in Abeokuta .
Obasanjo who disclosed that he received a text message which he said shocked him , saying, a middle class Nigerian requesting for financial assistance from him.
According to him, ” We will keep going and we will survive this though Time . I told him we have experience this period in time of Abacha, all the middle class were completely destroyed .
“I was surprised the day a colonel in the Army came to me complaining that he and his family could not afford to buy a car.
A friend of mine, Dr. Okoro, a Medical Doctor, his wife, also a Medical Doctor and their daughter, who is also a Medical Doctor, between the three of them, they could not afford a new car, they had to go to Saudi Arabia, but, I pray we will not have such a time in Nigeria.
“We have to be at alert, to be forewarned is to be forearmed, if we will get ourselves out of the immorals we find ourselves in, it has to be done by each and everyone of us. We all have contribution to make and should not leave our responsibility on other for us to do. If we fail to participate in things that are meaningfully positive for this country, you will be a victim and we all become victims.
“As for me, we don’t know where we are going yet, may God Show us the way, the way that will take this country and make it a great country, and when, for me ooo, I understand and I see the way, I will tell you, I pray that God will show me the way, may God show you the way”, Obasanjo said .
The National President of the Nigerian Market/Traders Council, Osho, said the visit was meant to get the direction of the former president on the 2015
election.
She said the council had tremendous support of the former President during his eight year rule “as such, we deem it necessary and as a mark of respect to come and find out on which direction we are going.”

The greatest of the great has opened up again! .
ReplyDeleteWe are all human, we make mistakes, but whoever's good things in his/her records surpassed his mistakes can talk anytime people of no directions except taking actions that can destroy good works of others.
If you a patriotic Nigerian, support the truth and get blessing of your Creator.
Sorry sir/Ma, there is no truth in OBJ. You are also mistaking. Nigeria Economy is better than during OBJ times. At least I can eat 3 times a day now. Formerly during OBJ times I always borrow. I have bought a car even though it is Nissan Blue Bird. It is better than nothing and the long distance trekking I always perform. Thank God for the outburst in the ICT industry. All I needed GEJ to do is to make internet connection very cheap like what is obtainable abroad so that I can build a Data Center that can compete with others
DeleteUnsuccessful leaders always give birth to unsuccessful successors. U (Obj) is the author of all these mess. For not allowing true democracy, true federalism in Nigeria. Well done.
ReplyDeleteCos subsidy removal has not allowed OANDO OIL TO SELL WELL In Bene Togo Ghana Serria Leon Liberia etc Uncle Sege de filling stations were dey selling 4 u or 4 nija econony,?
ReplyDeleteU GEJ supporters are so funny. Never facts. Always attack. And u add names also...
DeleteI have fact. My life is better than it was before. There is a rapid growth in the ICT world and Nigeria is in the verge of becoming a global ICT giant. However it is people like you, GEJ haters that would destroy it without reason. These are some questions I gathered from people I interacted with on why they think GEJ should not be president . Ans 1: He is weak-> I laugh at people who give this answer because GEJ might be silent but silence is not weakness. Yes these group of people have low thinking faculty. The expect GEJ to bomb both the peaceful citezen and Boko Haram so that they can latter accuse GEJ for war crime. GEJ is actually tacking it the right way. However because Boko Haram lives with the people it is a difficult war.(There is no label of Boko Haram on the fore head its members). I have this question for these set of funny people. Assuming you are a soldier trying to stop Boko Haram. How will you know a particular car has bomb when there are over 1000 cars passing every minute. You must be a prophet to detect this. (Since the political Boko Haram members in the senate have blocked the loan request to upgrade defense equipment, Nigerian should not expect quick breakthrough without equipment). He is from the South South. My answer: South South are Nigerians and they can be voted for. 3. Everyone hated him, he should resign My Answer: You are very wrong. Not everyone hates GEJ. The people that hated him are the Boko Haram and their supporters. Remember the politician attacking him are doing so on their own selfish interest, Nigerians truely love GEJ. I also see these set of people as unreasonable. Who should he hand over to when he resigns. The power hungry politicians will turn the table for complete Boko Haram take over of Nigeria. It is then they will know that GEJ is far better. GEJ will be a coward if he resigns and put the Nigerian state in a terrible situation(Nigeria might fail to exist if GEJ resigns because the North would love a national Islamic government while the south will refuse. The South South will want resource control. Nigeria will break up into different fragment: North, Biafra, Odua, etc- Do you think this is the solution). NIGERIAN PLEASE GUIDE WHAT YOU HAVE NOW BECAUSE IT WOULD BE A DISASTER IF YOU LOOSE IT
DeleteThe lapsess re carry-over frm our past 2 present leaders. Why must Obasanjo be so blount? What achievemnt did he make. Jst Sango where his firm was located was a-no-go area. Pls forget all abt peerogress palava because soldier go, soldiercome God is in perfect control.
ReplyDeleteevil obasanjo. you romance with gej on the phone but publicly you bite him just to encourage boko haram. was your administration better? did you win your re-election bid? you manipulated the result to favou you and today you still talk.
ReplyDeleteBaba you dey lie, if you get quarrel will Jonathan make una settle am. Majority of Nigerians know he is trying despite the insurgence which he inherited, they are perpetrating to score him down.
ReplyDeleteObasanjo and many others wei don steal tire sef de talk, u ppl suppose die by firing squad, u still de talk on how Nigeria go better, who u de decieve God or men.
ReplyDeleteIn whose tenure did Eadris Abdulkarim sing Nigeria jagajaga?
ReplyDeleteUnder whose administration did higher institution students first go on strike in Nigeria? Obasanjo. Under whose administration did doctors first embark on a nationwide strike in Nigeria? Obasanjo. Need we say more? Okay, who introduced MTN *555*1* recharge code? Where did the *1* money go? Baba should please respect his age, and stop playing the holy Joe. He certainly knows how the economy was under him and how it nosedived to incur the citizens' wrath.
ReplyDeleteI completely disagree with Obasanjo. I initially hated GEJ administration but I can see its sincerity. OBJ should not destroy the respect some people have for him. OBJ SUPPOSE TO SUPPORT GEJ. If you come to Economy GEJ have achieved a lot. As a hosting company during OBJ regime paying for services abroad is very difficult but thanks to GEJ things are far more easy. I am waiting for the constant electricity supply so that I can run my own data center in Nigeria. (Although I know these might not be achieved because of unnecessary distraction by Boko Haram and some Nigerian Political Parties / Politicians that praise Boko Haram. NB The reader should understand that these are also Boko Haram in disguise), Since I was a teenager Nigerian have been blocked in many global internet services but now Nigerian are free. (eg Nigerians can open Paypal account). Nigeria is fast becoming a big giant in ICT industries. I am of the lower class and some of these great achievements in the ICT world have actually helped me to grow. (Probably what OBJ is talking about is that GEJ have blocked the route of people in his class from siphoning Nigerian funds). GEJ's achievement in power generation was never reached during the tenure of any Nigerian President. However I pity GEJ because there are a lot of things fighting him and trying to make it impossible for him to deliver his promise to Nigerian. They are Boko Haram and Ebola Virus. I would love to commend the effort of the FG against Ebola. I just wish the governor of Borno state would learn lesson on how to govern his people from Lagos State Governor. Gov Fashola never waited for FG to protect his people against Ebola. He knew he has a duty to perform and he did it well. He did not call FG to send Medical soldiers but used the Medical soldiers in his disposal. Kidnapping of Chibok girls is completely the fault of the Borno State Governor. If the Gov of Borno actually love his people and if he is not the one that sent Boko Haram he should have fought Boko Haram the way Gov Fashiola fought Ebola. Ebola is a more dangerous enemy when compared with Boko Haram (Although they are close)
