Immediate past Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, yesterday, formally declared his intention to run for Imo governorship poll on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
Chief Ohakim, who made his intention known when he paid an official visit to the members of the State Executive Committee of the PDP, also told the audience that he is not ashamed to re-contest the position after loosing out to the incumbent, Rochas Okorocha in 2011.
Chief Ohakim explained that he was vying for the position to complete the gigantic projects he started in the state, which have been abandoned by the incumbent governor.
The former governor alleged that he left over N28. 6 billion for his successor, in an interest-yielding account, which he noted has been used in building roundabouts and other structures that do not generate employment for the teeming unemployed youths.
He was particularly irked that all the job-creating ventures he started have been sadly abandoned, adding that “even those he gave gainful employment were summarily sacked withou due process”.
He recalled with grief that a struggling man lost his life during a recent heavy rain in Owerri, adding that such tragedies could have been avoided if proper engineering drawing for the road project was done.
“During my tenure, there were no assassinations. No permanent secretary was declared missing. No protocol officer was brutally murdered. There was no reported case of arson. These things are sadly happening now”, Ohakim lamented. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

With due respect to sir as a senior, the things you mentioned that is happening now that didn't in your tenor is never a guarantee you performed better than the incumbent governor, is so sad that in Nigeria anybody vying for a position takes it that he has to criticize and condemn the one occupying the position, he can lend his support if he thinks he has other ideas to move the states forward no where was it written that he must be the governor before things would be better it's a collective thing no man knows it all, if not for some selfish reasons some people go for this positions to be the lord if we can support the man there we ll get a better results and still be recognized.
ReplyDeleteOhaki the Bros, you don't have any good plan for your community not to talk of the IMO People. All the political Employment in IMO should stop. Ohaki 10,000 job is fake. And you OWELE and consolidate your 27,000 IYMY b/4 your next political decleration.
ReplyDeleteThe first tenor that was graced with molestation of Catholic priest and Journalist, dredging of Nworie River, unjustified increment of tuition fees of state schools, billboards of non existing projects, bullying of motorists, petty traders, market women, and struggling Imolites. Can't believe this man still have the got to ask for political vote in his community talk of Imolites in general.
ReplyDeleteIkedi? Pls did he forget his luggage at the government house?
ReplyDeleteWe need to try new people. Ikedi should go and rest.
That is PDP propaganda against Okorocha. Okorocha is still by far better than his counterpart in Abia State. Ohakim did not do better than the present Governor of Imo State either. If we are allowed in Nigeria we will vote for individuals and not on party basis. People like Governor of ABIA State should not be allowed to come out again to seek for votes.
