The Enugu State House of Assembly on Thursday confirmed Ralph Ifeanyichukwu Nwoye as the new deputy governor of the state.
He replaces Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi who was impeached by the state lawmakers on Tuesday.
Nwoye was nominated by Governor Sullivan Chime and when through the routine screening at the state Assembly complex on Thursday.
During Thursday’s plenary session, the Speaker of the House, Eugene Odoh, read a letter the governor sent to the lawmakers, urging them to expeditiously consider and approve Nwoye’s nomination.
Relying on the provisions of section 191 (3) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, the governor said in the letter that Nwoye’s nomination was sequel to the vacancy in the office of the deputy governor.
