The Central Bank of Nigeria has re-introduced bank charges on Automated Teller Machines.
Bank Customers as from 1st of September, 2014 will now pay N65 when they make use of other banks ATMs.
In the directive, CBN stated that the first 3 withdrawals in a month on other bank ATMs will be free but subsequent ones will be charged at N65 per transaction.
It will be recalled that banks were charging N100 per transaction on ATM machines before the Central Bank cancelled it Under Sanusi Lamido Sanusi's watch in December 2012 and made it free.
Now it’s back with a reduction of N35.
When it was cancelled, the banks still paid each other when the transaction was made without passing on the costs to the customers, This made many of the banks ensure that their ATMs were always working to prevent their customers from going to other banks.

ReplyDeleteThis man was formal zenith ban CEO and zenith bank customers was paying N65 per transaction on zenith bank ATM before malam SLS cancelled the charge. Now he is the head of all bank and want to make more money for the banks.

DeleteYes that was a nice one, 9ja would soon realize the importance of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi
DeleteIt is only God who will judge him, I closed my zenith bank account because this man as a student, he charges N300 when ever money is being sent to me from a branch different from where I opened my account and also charges me N65 each time I used my ATM card on my ATM matchine. Now he is the CBN Governor, chey! God u are in heaven watching how evil men oppress us. The rich man will desire to collect from the poor. There is God ooo!!!
ReplyDeletecan u see the difference btw sanusi and Gej man?
ReplyDeleteYes I can see and we have seen it.
Deletebanks are busy declaring billions of naira in profit annually yet you want to exploit the masses the more. I call for a reversal of this new policy!. All nigerians arise o compatriots, let say no to this. SPEAK OUT NOW. say NO to re-introduction of charges in ATM. Go to social media and let it go viral!
ReplyDeleteI guess dis CBN man is sick
ReplyDeletesunusi is great man.
ReplyDeleteYes I agreed and that was the reason why is installed as Emir of kano so those against that can commit suicide no wahala..
DeleteThis new CBN governor is a rubbish guy, its obvious he is anti masses, GEJ and PDP should call him to order before he instigate the masses against this government 2015 is by the corner.
ReplyDeleteNothing is wrong with that policy, everything is wrong with nigerians that assume expertise whenever a policy is pronounced. When u use another bank's atm u deplete th atm infrastructure of a bank u contribute nothing to. Payin N65 is not too much for that. This policy will ensue efficiency in stm services. All banks will ensure that their machines work.

DeleteThe new CBN governor has put every wrong foot forward. From his stupid policy of requesting every BDC owner to deposite N35m (which drove many out of business and created massive unemployment) to the present policy, he has shown his ineptitude and disdain for the masses. He should be reprimanded by the president. His hidden agenda may well be to stoke up the peoples hatred for president Jonathan. The very sad aspect of it all is that the president does not appear to even appreciate this basic fact.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous @1:54AM , everything is wrong with the policy do you know how many people use the ATM daily? what atm infrastructure? the data network, the cartridges or the mechanical part of the Machine which? N65 naira is on the high side N20 is ok. You force the us to use atm for withdrawal and not crowd your banking halls, you create atm for withdrawing and paying in cash that is good though you are telling us to pay for what you force on us, do you know how many Nigerians the machines have taken over their jobs???? all in the name of efficiency!
ReplyDeleteThis is the type leaders Nigerians deserve. I am very sure that in the next few years, we should be able to juxtapose between Sanusi and the present CBN governor.

ReplyDeleteWhen a woman moved to another husband's house, she will be in position to compare the two homes. Nigeria, we hail thee.
ReplyDeleteIt is very unfortunate that MR. CBN GOVERNOR is reversing the ATM charges fron 0 to N65. I knew he will reversed many of the CBN policies to increase COT and other bank charges. The new CBN GOVERNOR is from ZENITH BANK, a bank that does not care about about the commoners. ZENITH bank does not give out loan which is less than 20m. They reapoff their corporate customer and milk-dry every customers with charges and unsubstantiated fees. This ATM charges is just the begining of what to come from. We must all rise to reject this
ReplyDeleteThe charges is best practice and it's been charged all over the world. In USA you will pay $2 for using another banks ATM. Most banks have a huge branch network, so bank with a bank where you will see their ATM everywhere. I can't be caught ever using another banks ATM.
ReplyDeletePls don't chew me for this, it's just my opinion.
Is this US or Canada? Cant u tink b4 u talk?
ReplyDeleteNigerians love free things a lot.how about the banks that have been paying for all the costs before now for using the other bank ATM. I fully support this initiative from CBN.
