16-year old marriage dissolved over wife’s infidelity, demonic powers

An Oke-Are Customary Court in Ibadan on Wednesday dissolved a 16-year old marriage between Rahaman Shitu and Toyin over her infidelity and possession of demonic powers.
The Presiding Judge, Fatai Akere, held that there was nothing the court could do since the head of the home had made up his mind not to continue with the relationship.
“We have done all we could to settle the matter in and out of the court amicably but Shitu had remained adamant on calling it quit with Toyin.
“In the interest of peace and orderliness, your marriage has seized to be henceforth and Shitu shall take custody of the three children,” the judge said.
Shitu had told the court that Toyin was deeply involved in extra-marital affairs and possessed some demonic powers with which she had afflicted him.
“Toyin’s mother is a witch and she has initiated her daughter who has now wrecked my own progress with her evil power.
“My mother in-law sold a parcel of land to me, since we completed the construction of our house and moved in, I have been running from pillar to post, from one spiritual problem to another.
“All the spiritualists that I visited told me that my mother in-law and her daughter who is my wife are directly responsible for my woes,” Shitu said.
According to him, Toyin is deeply involved in extra-marital affairs and one of her numerous concubines is one pastor Kehinde whom I have caught with her before.
“In fact, for the past three months, I have left my own home because I was reliably informed that if I sleep in that house any further, she would paralyse me with her demonic power.
“I gave her all that I had but she had rewarded me with evil,” Shitu said.
Toyin had in her defence denied the allegations, stressing that Shitu had always insisted that “I was involved in infidelity or extra-marital affairs and he gave me a cutlass to swear and that within seven days, I shall see the consequence.
“I swore but nothing happened to me and instead, he had an accident the following week.
“The pastor Kehinde he mentioned was one of the tenants living in my mother’s house and I had nothing to do with him.
“In addition, he went to beat up my mother on no account,” Toyin said.
