The newly registered Unity Party of Nigeria says it will start a nationwide registration of members on July 15, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
The National Chairman of the UPN, Dr Frederick Faseun told NAN in an interview in Lagos.
The party was registered by INEC in April.
Faseun said that the membership drive was aimed at registering Nigerians wishing to join the party. "We have been doing official but low registration of foundation members of the new UPN.
"The official registration will commence simultaneously in all the states of Nigeria including the Federal Capital Territory and will be continuous," Faseun said.
He said that the the UPN had already established offices in all the state capitals including some senatorial districts across the nation.
Faseun debunked allegations that the party was registered to introduce political violence in the South West region of the country.
"The UPN has come back to stay but not as a regional party. Our politics would be without abuse but purely based on political issues.
"Our mission is to win not only in the South West region but all states in Nigeria," he said.
The UPN Chairman said that the party would contest in all elective positions in Nigeria come 2015.
"Starting with the governorship election in Osun in August, the UPN will field candidates for all positions including the governorship election in Lagos state, " he added. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
