Only two matches now remain in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and it will be one fondly remembered for the number of goals scored.
An astonishing 167 goals have been scored and only four goals short of France 1998 record tally. Records have already been broken in the tournament. One of them is Germany's Klose who became the highest all-time scorer with his 16th goal against Brazil in Tuesday's semi-final.
However, the question is, who will score the most goals in this edition and claim the coveted Golden Boot? One of the bright stars for the future to emerge from the showpiece is James Rodriguez and his six goals for Colombia which saw him at the top of the pile. He helped his side to reach the quarter-finals for the first time in their history. Another is Thomas Muller of Germany who has five goals. He has a chance to become the first player to win consecutive Golden Boots after his five goals were enough to take it four years ago in South Africa.
Three other players joined him on five goals last time around but his three assists gave him the upper hand to claim the accolade. With three assists also in this edition, one more than Rodriguez, he certainly stands a chance when he steps unto the pitch for the final against Argentina. One behind him sees Brazil's Neymar Jr. and Argentina's Lionel Messi on four goals. However, while Neymar is injured and will not be featuring in the third-place match against the Netherlands, Messi will lead his team out in search of emulating Diego Maradona's successful side in 1996. Rodriguez has the driving seat, but Muller and Messi anxiously wait in the wings as they come face-to-face at the final on Sunday.
