Oritsejafor accuses Boko Haram of plot to Islamise Nigeria

The National President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor has accused the Boko Haram Islamic sect of working to Islamise Nigeria.

Oritsejafor spoke yesterday at the Quarterly National Executive Council, NEC, meeting of the association in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

He said: "I symphatise with families that have lost their loved ones to the activities of Boko Haram in the country. Let me also inform that about 80 per cent of those killed are Christians.

"I agree that some of our Muslim brothers are also killed, but such groups of Muslims are those the Boko Haram think have betrayed them.

"The fact is that the hidden agenda of Boko Haram is to have an Islamic state in Nigeria as we now hear and see in Iraq and Syria. I think the insurgents are gradually advocating for a Jihad in Nigeria, which is not a good development for the country."

  1. This old man still think we Nigerians are fools. Nigeria has no religious problems but leadership one like the type of pastor Ayo. You always try to attract attention and attractions to your supposed non political office by talking as if muslims doesn't attend the same market, schools, hospital etc together again with xtains in Nigeria. Your friend GEJ will go by 2015 and a non tribal and non religious bigotic person will take over then your game will be up. Those killed whether xtains or muslims by boko haram are all northerners and Nigerians. The north is still one. The boko haram bomb cannot descriminate between muslims and xtains when detonated. So go else where and fight for minority muslims in the south to prove you saint. All former Yoruba CAN president are not as political as biased like you. We all know that from the way the present government muscled every citizens in all ramifications now, any individual except those business moguls with a private jet and university is just a ...................... I know some people will attack me in this forum but reason out the points made first.

  6. Ayo is just doing the bidding of his financiers (GEJ). Not all Xristians agree with the direction he has driven the CAN today, which is now more of a political organisation much busy spreading religious division rather than religious harmony. Nigerians (Christians & Muslims) are not fighting themselves on the streets, this you can see, but rather going about their daily livelihood in these trying period. A good religious leather should rather preach religious harmony, love trust and tolerance to his adherents rather than sowing the seed of hatred. No wonder the Catholic Christians had long time dissociated themselves from the current leadership of CAN headed by Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor..
