The Department of State Services (DSS), said ten persons who kidnapped two sisters in Abuja on June 8, received N10 million ransom before they released the victims.
Marilyn Ogar, Deputy Director of Public Relations in DSS, announced this in Abuja on Thursday when she briefed newsmen on the arrest of the kidnappers.
"The two girls were released on June 17'', she said.
Ogar added that the leader of the gang (names withheld), was arrested and convicted of illegal possession of arms and ammunitions in 2013.
"After serving the jail term of one and half years at the Keffi Prison in Nasarawa State, he returned to his criminal activities.''
Ogar said the leader confessed that he and four other members of the gang carried out the operation at Life Camp in the FCT and co-opted the others.
"They collected N10 million before releasing the victims. They lied to the co-opted members that they received only N6 million.
"Each core member of the gang received N1.3 million. He took N1.7 million'', she said.
Ogar also said that one of the suspects was a security guard in the house where the sisters lived, adding that the guard provided the information on the movement of the victims' family. (NAN) Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

Serious!. But why withholding the names of those that are even ex- convict. The name of the Guard should be revealed. This is to tell young people contemplating or even trying to rationalise crime that crime and criminality does not pay. Now, they collected that money, but where are they now?Every day for the thief but one day for the owner of the house.
ReplyDeleteBy withholding the names of the criminals, DSS are accomplices too.
