Former Nigeria captain Austine Okocha has said the resignation of Stephen Keshi as Super Eagles head coach would be unwise for the growth of the country's football.
Okocha described the 52-year old Delta-born coach as the "best indigenous coach Nigeria ever had" and deserves a long term job with the national team.
"I don't think his future is in doubt. [Keshi's] exit must be the craziest decision we will ever make as a nation. He will come out of this competition as a better coach though," Okocha said on SuperSport.
He believes the national team will have a result-oriented future with Keshi in charge.
"The future looks bright for me. He has gone about the business the right way by going back to our local league to pick the next Keshi, Mikel and Omokachi in the future.
"He is planning well for the future for Nigeria. He is on the right track," he concluded. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

I share the same sentiment, Jay Jay
ReplyDeleteU ar playing double standard.u forget u were the first person to criticize him (keshi) after their first match?or you are not aware of south African interest in him? Common jj let us call a spade a spade.
ReplyDeleteBeing critical is not akin to disapproving a fine coach. Where are you from bro?
ReplyDeleteHe may have criticised him but he is very honest in his opinion and I totally agree with him. He is the first coach to give home based players a cry and look at how it has helped us. Keshi needs time. He has brought harmony to the team which we always suffered from. He should be encouraged. We have won the nations cup after 19 years and broke the jinx at the world cup of 16 years!
ReplyDeleteI don't think so
