From Lagos to Abia, Kaduna to Jos and Oyo to Kwara states, courts visited by our correspondents on Monday were shut.
One of our correspondents, who visited the Lagos State High Court, Igbosere, observed that some lawyers were loitering around the gate while security men prevented people from entering the court premises.
Two days to the end of the Lagos State judicial year, which begins on Wednesday (tomorrow), it was a similar situation at the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja.
Though the Federal High Courts workers do not join the strike, the judges have proceeded on vacation, which began on Monday with the only exception of the two judges slated to entertain civil matters while the recess lasts.
The two have however said vacation sitting would commence on Wednesday.
JUSUN had on Friday commenced an indefinite nationwide strike to protest against the non-compliance of the state governments with the order of the court for financial autonomy and independence of the judiciary.
The National President of the association, Marwan Adamu, had last week said in Abuja that the strike was the body's last option to press home its demands, vowing that until the demands were met, the industrial action would continue.
On Monday at the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja, the trial of the popular transporter, Bube Okorodudu, before Justice Lateef Lawal-Akapo was stalled due to the industrial action.
Also, litigants in Abia State have continued to bemoan their ordeals as the nationwide strike by judiciary workers continued.
When one of our correspondents visited some court premises in Umuahia, lawyers and litigants, who had matters in the courts, could not enter the premises as the gates were locked.
Also, the gates to the courts in Kaduna State were on Monday locked as JUSUN began its indefinite strike to press for financial autonomy for the judiciary.
The Chairman of the union in the state, Murtala Aminu, said the workers were only carrying out the directive of the National Executive Committee of the union on the commencement of the strike during its meeting on July 9, 2014.
