Jonathan mourns Kogi Governor’s father


President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday urged the Governor of Kogi State, Capt Idris Wada, and the entire family of late Pa Wada Ejiga to uphold the ideals of Ejiga, saying the deceased rendered quality service to humanity.



Ejiga, the father of the governor died on Sunday evening and was buried on Monday according to Islamic rites.

Jonathan who was represented by his Vice, Namadi Sambo, spoke on Tuesday when the Federal Government delegation paid a condolence visit Wada at Odu Ogboyaga, Dekina Local Government, Kogi State.

On the Vice President’s entourage were the Minister for Special Duty, Mr Tenimu Turaki; the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar and some other top government functionaries.

Jonathan charged Wada to appreciate God for granting his father long life and the numerous achievements he recorded.

He stated that the late Pa Ejiga was particularly lucky because he lived to see many of his children becoming successful in life.

In his response, Wada thanked Jonathan and the FG’s delegation for their sympathy.

He stated that although that his father lived for 100 years, the family was still in shock because he was still hale and hearty before his death.

Meanwhile, the President of Dangote Group , Aliko Dangote; a former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Abubakar Audu; Obaro of Kabba, Oba Michael Olobayo; the Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Mohammed Labor, and the Ohimege of Koton Karfe, Alhaji Gambo Koto have also visited to condole with Wada.

They described the deceased as a worthy example of dignity, patriotism and self-less service to humanity.
