Our correspondent gathered on Saturday that the 45-year-old lecturer at the Department of Computer Science, Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State, Mr. Adeniyi Adebowale, was swept away while driving through a flooded road.

He was said to have been warned against driving through the flooded road by residents of the area but Adebowale, a prince from Offa, was said to have insisted on driving through the road instead of taking an alternative safe road, which would have taken him more time.

Eyewitnesses told our correspondent that a Toyota Camry with registration number, LSD 783 CA, which Adebowale was driving, was submerged by the flood.

The car was seen at a distance not far from the spot where it was swept away on Friday but Adebowale was found dead inside it.

According to residents of the area, the late lecturer was returning to Ede from Ijabe, a town after Ila Orangun where he had travelled to when he met his waterloo.

A relative of the deceased told our correspondent that she called the lecturer and told him on the telephone that the road beside Oke Gads a Police Station was flooded and he should avoid it.

Eyewitnesses said the police had raised a red flag warning motorists against driving through the flooded road.
