Despite heightened fear over possible attacks by the members of Boko Haram, thousands of Muslims trooped to various praying centres across Adamawa State to observe the Eid el Fitri prayer yesterday morning.
Reports across the state indicated that the ceremony was observed without any hitch as no breach of peace was recorded.
The development may be connected to the water tight security mounted before and during the celebration by soldiers and police who intensify stop and search across every nook and cranny of the state.
Commissioner of Police A. J. Abbakasanga had earlier assured residents of the state a hitch-free celebration as he said he had ordered all units of the command across the state to ensure that their jurisdictions were properly manned just as he said intelligence gathering was intensified.
Some residents of Yola who expressed happiness with the situation thanked Almighty Allah for ensuring a hitch free celebration during the period just as they applauded the measures put in place by the security personnel to prevent any eventuality.
A civil servant in the state, Mallam Shehu Awwal, also thanked the state acting governor for his generosity in paying civil servants of the state part of the outstanding salaries owed by the previous administration, saying the gesture is well acknowledged by all civil servants in the state and will be reciprocated.
The Lamido of Adamawa His Royal Higness Dr. Muhammadu Aliyu Barkindo Mustapha also enjoined the people to live peacefully with one another and to obey constituted authorities for peace enterprise to prevail in the state.
The Emir made the call during the Durbar procession usually organized by the emirate to commemorate the end of the Ramadan fasting at his palace in Yola. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
