Peoples Democratic Party Governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Mr. Ayo Fayose, has explained why he passed under a barbed wire at Murtala Muhammed International Airport during his tenure as governor of the state.
Reacting to the picture, which went viral on the Internet, the former governor said he passed under the barbed wire because time was running out and he did not want to miss his flight.
He subsequently debunked claims by the All Progressives Congress that he committed the act in order to beat airport security and launder money.
Commenting on the picture, an APC chieftain and former governor of Ekiti State, Segun Oni, had said Fayose was not worthy of being a governor because he lacked decorum.
Oni had said, “For a governor, what could have caused that? Even if there was a rampant shooting and everybody was escaping for their dear lives, as a governor I would have allowed my security to shield me and take me through whatever route that is better. But it was not an emergency. This is how much Fayose values decency.”
However, Fayose’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, told our correspondent during an interview on Monday that there was nothing wrong in the act.
He said, “The plane had arrived and he (Fayose) wanted to travel. On getting to the gate, it was locked and the airport staff could not find the key and he (Fayose) was eager to meet his deadline so he passed under the barbed wire.
“He did not do so in order to beat any security check and that did not amount to running away. There is no big deal in the act and that has nothing to do with good governance. Good governance involves meeting the needs of the people.” Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

ReplyDeletehm!
It is not only shameful, it is criminality of a number in a State breaking the law.
ReplyDeleteIt is only in Nigeria that those working with their boss are made to behave servants. If not, what rubbish is Chief Press Secretary trying to defend?
Thank God, everybody has his own name. Fayose broke rule and Adelusi spoilt it by trying to defend what is shameful.
Only a miscreat will pull that stunt. You are a tout bros.
ReplyDeleteFayose is contesting an election under the umblella of government of the thugs by the thugs and for their likes. How can Fayose represent Ekiti people in the South West of all places in Nigeria? His counterpart, Omisore, is in Osun. We are waiting for what GEJ wants South West to look like. The game is bring them down by all means. Will God permit this PDP?
ReplyDeleteThe laws are made for some sets of people in this country, only when the law is applied to everyone, and no one is above the law, then Nigeria can see progress, how could a key of airport gate be missing....bunch of idiotes.
ReplyDeleteYou can run away from who you are. Ones a thug is always a thug. My prayer is that my people should not fall victim again.
ReplyDeletePosition does not change a man/woman raher it amplifies who he or she has been before getting to the position. I can't see fashola a SAN doing that he will rather miss d flight. That story cannot be tru cos before d gate will be locked the last flight for d evening would have checked in travelers. Its only local flights that are delayed becos of one man not international flights, who u be ?
