Soldiers repel Boko Haram attack in Adamawa

The special Forces on Thursday repelled another attack on Madagali headquarters of Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State in the early hours of today.

A security source said the insurgents started the operation at Maisuru-Dawa village before heading towards Madagali for another attack by 10.20am.
The source said that Special Forces on the ground were few and were in urgent need of reinforcement during the attack on Madagali.
It was stated however that the timely response of the military saved the day as the insurgents were chased away by immediate reinforcements and a military jet deployed for the operation.
A source said the residents were impressed with the timely response from the Joint Task Force who flew the fighter jet to disperse the attackers minutes after receiving the report of the invasion.
Prior to the Thursday attack, the insurgents had launched an attack on Madagali on April 23, 2014 which led to the killing of a soldier, a driver and some of the insurgents.
A security source on Thursday expressed concern that the members of the Madagali community were calling media houses, while the attack was going on instead of calling security agencies.
The source said the tendency to calculate the time from when the attack started and when the soldiers intervened showed a tendency to blackmail security agencies.
The source said the villagers also told some of the media houses that the insurgents were using aircraft in the Madagali attack when they sighted the military jet which was deployed for the operation.
"When the attack was going on, the indigenes were busy calling radio houses, they called many media organisations. That is the tendency of the people in that area.
"And they would start calculating from the time the attack started until the arrival of soldiers. It shows the high level of blackmail. And that is a remote village,
"The villagers even said that aircraft were being used by the terrorist when they spotted the military aircraft deployed for the operation," the source said.
When our correspondent contacted the Director of Defence Information, Maj.Gen Chris Olukolade, he confirmed the incident.
He described the response of the military to the Madagali attack as timely.
Olukolade also advised the members of the Madagali community to give priority to reach security agencies rather than the media.
"Yes, it is true, the attack was repelled; the response of the troops to the report was timely and I am sure the response was on as at this time we are talking.
"I wish to advise the people of the area to try and reach the appropriate security organizations whenever there is any incident needing security attention," he said

  1. What i wish to hear is that the deployment of soldiers and army warplane led to maximum wasting of the insurgents and not that they were repelled. Are they repelled to go and re-strategize or to go and pay for their crime in hell?
