Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has criticised his players for being "nervous and unsettled" as they kicked off their World Cup with a 0-0 draw with Iran.
The Africa Cup of Nations champions dominated the game against the Asian side but failed to make their possession count as they came up against a disciplined defence and were forced to settle for a point.
And Keshi believes his players were not in the right frame of mind as their hopes of reaching the second round were dealt a significant blow.
"The boys were too nervous and unsettled," he told Optima Live. "You don't do that at this stage.
"It happens in football. We really didn't perform as expected but we have to move on.
"I wanted a win but must take a draw. We must do better to get a win against Bosnia."

Keshi...#BringBackOurBoys
ReplyDeleteKeshi should not complain cold after he is out in the open. He deliberately selected inexperienced team and assured us they have come of age. I remember in the days of westerhof he particularly said of Okocha up till USA 94 that he is still naïve even though Okocha was a talent. World cup is not for the boys . . . He should rather take responsibility for his work and move on, I also think Nigerians have leant their lesson. Keshi himself is not a world cup coach
ReplyDeleteloll...our boyz played under a coach wit no tactical discipline..bring back our boys
ReplyDeleteexcuse to exclude Uche and now you are again on Osaze? These are two most experienced and in - form players in Nigeria but keshi 's style of coaching does not need them.Even if Keshi were to be Brazil or Argentine coach he may likely leave out Neymar and Messi based on useless tactics and ago. By the way Yobo, Azeez,Ameobi Oshaniwan,Agbim and Babatunde have no business being in a team that is serious about making impact in such a tournament.. It is only Keshi that can tell Nigerians and other football lovers the criteria he used in selecting them. Just Watch Ameobi in the last match running and moving around clueless and casually like a pregnant woman. Now he is blaming Osaze who was even full of energy and making effort to put pressure on the Iranian. It is this sort of attitude and action by Keshi that make some conspiracy theorists to start talking about match fixing or bribery..In fact Keshi and his team abracadabra no go kill us for this world cup. Let me enjoy other better prepared team and games joooo!
