Stoke City striker Osaze Odemwingie could again be shut out from Nigeria first team after coach Stephen Keshi said he did not play to instructions when he was introduced in the second half against Iran.
Osaze brought some urgency and creativity to the Eagles attack on Monday, but Keshi said the striker defied his instructions even though he was playing an unfamiliar role.
Almeria midfielder Ramon Azeez could also be axed from the starting XI after he won his third cap against Iran on Monday.
His most likely replacement will be Belgium-based Michael Uchebo, who was preferred to Azeez in the country’s warm-up games leading up to Brazil 2014.
Skipper Joseph Yobo is expected to keep his place in the first team after Turkey-based defender Godfrey Oboabona was ruled out of the World Cup as a result of a foot injury he suffered against Iran.
Yobo said that reaching a century of international caps would be an added bonus for him as he was already fulfilled to be at his third World Cup.
“I’m just happy that I made it here because towards the end of the season I got injured and it was difficult for me,” he revealed.
“Any other personal achievement will be great and I will enjoy it.” Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

Hmmmmm! I may not know much about coaching technicalities but I'm afraid our head coach is making a grave mistake in his selection and game plan here. Kechi, should do Ashe pleased but know it at the back if your mind that if you don't qualify Eagles in group stage of this tournament, you might be in for a very big trouble. I've said my own ooo!
ReplyDeleteMumuism confirmed. Keshi don crase. We just hope sumtin good comes out of this Bethlehem.
ReplyDeleteThe beginning of "The End" for Super Eagles at the world cup. Coach is unfit for the World Cup task.
ReplyDeleteKeshi pls stoo blaming Osaze. Your team lacked speed generally. Come home already.
ReplyDeleteKeshi u re looking 4 who 2 blame.....u pack injured boys go world cup cos dem bribe u nw u want 2 blame Osazee.mstweew
ReplyDeleteKeshi, please leave Osaze alone. We may not be coaches but we have common sense. How many minutes did Osaze play when he was brought in that you want to blame him for Eagles woes? Forget your mistakes and that of the players and plan for Saturday's match against Bosnia. The Super Eagles have always started poorly, they can still make it. I wish you the best
ReplyDeleteKeshi shld just do anytin he knws best, but he shld be ready to face d consequence at d end of the game.Wish u goodluck o.
ReplyDeleteWhy is he on Osaze's case afterall he played well despite coming in some few minutes to the end of the game.He shld concentrate on building a better formation.
ReplyDeleteY is he on Osaze's case instead of concentrating on building a better formation
ReplyDeleteNawa for u oo keshi, Stop blamn Osaze jor
ReplyDeleteIt has always been Nigeria problem in any tournament that the head coach be engaging in wrong selection when we needed goals. Why did the man failed to start Osaze and Moses in the first have? He doesn't prepare much for this tournament due to South Africa job he has secured but let me assure you that if he fails at this stage, the south Africa will drop him! and i will tell you why.He should start those two goal hungry getter i mean Moses and Osaze.Thanks.
ReplyDelete"He no fit" If he tries that and we dont win the match we will make sure the ghost of those that died in that his Iran match will hunt him for the rest of his life.
ReplyDeleteWe should be celebrating competence not mediocracy
if u wanted OSAZE to perform more than that let him start in the next match. Also look at the direction of the intelligence of EJIKE UZOENYI. He is a play maker
