The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, has directed the Muslim Ummah to commence the Ramadan fast on Saturday(today).
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Sultan spoke through the Chairman, Sultanate Council Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Prof. Sambo Junaidu.
Junaidu said the directive followed the sighting of the new moon of Ramadan in Gwandu and Argungu in Kebbi State, as well as Durbawa and Isa in Sokoto State.
“Consequently, the Ramadan fast begins on Saturday, June 28, which is equivalent to the 1st of Ramadan, 1435 AH,” he said. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
