The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, has said that the police will do everything possible to unmask the perpetrators of the Tuesday blasts that killed more than 150 people in Jos, Plateau State.
Abubakar said the perpetrators would not go unpunished.
He stated this while addressing journalists on Wednesday at the Jos University Teaching Hospital after going round the casualties wards to ascertain the number of those injured following the blasts that left lots of persons died.
He said, “We have visited the injured in the hospital and they are fast recovering.”
He described the bombing as unfortunate, adding that security agencies were on top of the situation and “we would do anything humanly possible to unmask those who committed this heinous act.”
Abubakar said no government would tolerate this kind of situation anywhere in the world and because of the concern of President Goodluck Jonathan over the plight of Plateau people, “He had directed me here to come and see what has happened and to see the level of damage and get back to him.”
He added that investigation had started and all the security agencies would partner to ensure that those behind the killings were arrested.
Abubakar appealed to the people of Plateau State to be patient and provide adequate information to the security agencies “so that we will be able to arrest those behind the evil act.” Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
