Unknown gunmen have kidnapped a member representing the South-South region in the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC), Dr. Sylvanus Mordi.
Meanwhile, The Nation gathered on Thursday that the kidnappers had contacted Mordi’s family to demand a N10 million ransom for his release.
Mordi, who was once Delta State’s Head of Service (HOS), during the first tenure of former governor James Ibori, was reportedly kidnapped on Tuesday around Igbanke community, Orhionmwon council area of Edo State, while returning to Abuja from his Agbor, Delta State country home.
According to a close family source, the kidnappers had contacted the family, but would not allow their hostage to speak with members of his family.
They have demanded for a N10 million ransom from the family.
A grassroots politician from the Ika axis of Delta State, Mordi is the serving Commissioner for Policy and Standards at the FRC.
Confirming the incident, acting Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Charles Muka (DSP), noted that the kidnap spot was in Edo State, which is however close to Agbor in Delta State.
He also confirmed that the kidnappers had reached the family to demand for ransom, adding, however that the Delta police command was working with its Edo sister-command to facilitate Mordi’s safe release. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
