Following the widespread distribution on various online news sites (Not NigerianEye) of a video allegedly showing one of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls buried to her neck and stoned to death at Sambisa forest, the Nigerian government has asked the public to refrain from spreading false information capable of further inciting terror.
The Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, in a press statement on Thursday, said, “The video being circulated on the social media of one of the missing Chibok girls allegedly being stoned to death is as old as 2013 and considering the facts around the said video, much older.”
He urged Nigerians to keep focus on getting back the Chibok girls and ending terror in Nigeria. He also urged those with valuable information that can help rescue the kidnapped girls to come forward with it.
Our investigation revealed that the video, allegedly by Boko Haram, is an old one by the El-Shabab sect in Somalia, recorded in 2008.
The video was circulated in 2008 on news sites as part of a report on the El-Shabab. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
