#BringBackOurGirls: I will lead protest to Chibok, says Patience Jonathan

The first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has promised to stage a protest march to Chibok, Borno State, if the abducted schoolgirls were not released.

Jonathan said this in Abuja after a meeting with governors’ and ministers’ wives, female senators, commissioners and more than 200 women from various groups at the State House in Abuja.‎

The meeting was to seek the actual whereabouts of the kidnapped girls.

According to her, a committee will be inaugurated to include wives of all relevant stakeholders at a meeting scheduled for May 4.

She said that refusal of any of such relevant stakeholders to be contacted for the meeting would also lead to a mass protest.

“I cannot perpetuate hearsay and rumour; I must have facts to tell the international community.

“We will set up a committee to seek the truth as women.

“If any of those we call refuse to come, we will take the protest to Chibok.

“I do not mind being shot as long as they return our girls to us safely, we are tired of the kidnapping,” she said.

Jonathan said that the first ladies of Cameroon, Chad, Niger and various other countries had called to ask questions and offer assistance on the matter.

“They intimated me of their readiness to help, they also asked me questions that I could not answer ‎and as women we are the last hope of this nation. We cannot fail our fellow women and the nation.

“‎If need be, we will call on the northern elders to help us so that our children and husbands will not die,” Jonathan said.‎‎ ‎

The ‎Head of WAEC, National Office, Mr Charles Eguridu, at the meeting gave a clarification over the number of students enrolled for the examination in the school.

Eguridu said that those registered in the Government Girls School, Chibok include a total of 530 made up of 395 girls and 135 boys.

“The school had been reverted to a mixed school but the name remained Government Girls School.

“We were able to relocate 189 of the total number to write their exams at another village called Uba‎,” Eguridu said.‎

Others who spoke at the meeting included Mrs Yemisi Suswan, Sen. Nenadi Usman and Prof. Sarah Jibril.

  6. She does not need to go stage a protest @Chibok, all she need do is tell her husband to wake up and do something meaningful towards rescuing those girls. It looks to me as though she does not understand that the protests and outcry all over the place is directed to the govt to try and rescue those girls and not directed to d abductors of those girls.

  10. Amnesty for a terrorist organization that has caused Nigeria and Nigerians more pain and destruction than the civil war is not only insane, its a showcasing of ignorance and a confirmation of my earlier suspecting that this blog NIGERIANEYE if not indirectly linked to boko haram is highly in partnership with the opposition APC whose many influential members are linked to the boko haram,I say this cos many Nigerians know that this website has never been neutral or objective in its news blog,if its not a direct attack on the President commander in chief of the Armed forces,it is on his wife or cabinet. Many people know this but won't bother to say it cos it will be deleted immediately.now back to the issue at hand, amnesty for a bunch of killers who has no other aim but to kill and make Jonathans govt unstable, thank God they can't succeed. 1. The militants in Niger Delta are fightng for a cause, not only the liberation of their land, but to let the world know and see the desecration of their land through oil spillage, what is boko haram fighting for? Islamization of Nigeria? With an equal number of muslims and christians? It will never happen (2) The Niger delta militants never attacked and slaughtered innocent civilians in their sleep, they directed their anger to govt forces and they were brave enuf to stand them in certain cases, they even write letters to the civilians to leave the place before they attack, boko haram does the opposite, they innocent men and women, children and old, pregnant and every kinds of living things (3) some militants in the Niger delta was revealed to have embarked on community projects like building of schools and health centres, thus they won sympathy from the people and even got prayers from their people who see them as liberators, boko haram on the other hand destroys the little the people have and steal from them, and kidnap their children and demand ransom from the poor people (4) the niger delta militants respect and heed their elders call to drop arms and embrace amnesty, they have spokesmen and people who reach out to them, boko haram our cowards who don't want to be known or be spoken to,they kill their elders (6) while boko haram has recruited the help of other int'l evil terrorist organization who has been known not to dialogue but kill and kill until they themselves are killed, the niger delta militants fought for themselves by themselves.(7) while the Niger delta militants sought realistic things to negotiate for, which was why they got it,boko haram is seeking for unrealistic things which they can't and won't get. So when one looks at all this, all the people that has been killed, maimed and rendered refugees in their own country,it is insane for the govt to hand over amnesty to this cowards,it will be a betrayal of the Nigerian people, and that will never happen, what government should do is to continue what it is doing while taking help from people who knows the way to kill this monster. AND LET ME SAY IT CLEAR,IF YTOU DON'T GIVE BOKO HARAM A REASON TO NEGOTIATE,TO COME TO THE TABLE,THEY WILL CONTINUE KILLING AND IF THEY COME TO THE TABLE WITHOUT THAT REASON,THEY WILL MAKE DEMANDS THAT WILL BE TOO BIG FOR ANYONE TO ACCEDE TO,THEY WILL DICTATE TERMS COS THEY HAVE THE UPPER HAND,SO GOVT MUST GIVE THEM the OPTION OF LIFE OR DEATH AND I MEAN CRUEL DEATH.then some or maybe some will see need to negotiate. And am suggesting that as soon as those innocent girls are released save and sound, that sambesi forest should be bombed from air to the last tree.if our environment is clean,we won't have cockroaches hiding in them!

  11. Gej‘s administration is more like a “LOCAL“ drama group than a goverment with full of “DRAMA“ all around, they are more like “BABA SUWE,JAGUA and MAMA G“. May GOD in His Infinite Mercy save us and our country from the evil and devilish acts of boko haram and the “WICKED and HEARTLESS“ administration of gej. Ameen!

    1. @ Mr Tarauni, note that there's no way GEJ can be responsible for the insurgency in the north east. The fact that he's currently finding it difficult to provide solutions does not make him the cause. We know that Boko Haram was designed to make governance difficult for any southerner that gets there if the north did not win the last election. This is your own stupid way of protesting the power shift. Its sad that this level of foolishness can be found any where in Nigeria. Don't even compare it with the activities of militants in d Niger Delta,at least we knew the cause of their struggle & they went straight to their targets. We didn't hear them shooting innocent people at random & abducting innocent people. They kidnapped people working in companies who they felt were exploiting wealth in their land without compensation. This time around what we should be more interested in is understanding the reason behind the insurgency. If you know, pls enlighten us. Stop heaping blames on Jonathan. The insurgency will end when the North wants it to end. They can continue destroying their future generations, & the labour of their heroes past for all I care. How come it's only in the north that we have cases of insurgency? I think the North & their Elders are the ones to really agree to fight insurgency before Jonathan or the FG will be able to succeed. If they cease to receive cover, support, sympathy, etc,It will be very difficult for them to operate successfully. Don't think that the Boko Haram are those men in the Simbissa Forest. No,so many of their members are in the Army,Police,Navy,Senate,Aso Rock,House of Rep,,in our different political parties, name it they are evey where, carrying out different roles to uphold the Northern Agenda. You people should stop deceiving us. You strike & come out to ask who struck. That's bad! You guys should leave Jonathan alone. You have punished him enough by making government very difficult for him.

  12. Annoynmous @10 ;14,very on point.I have wondered too who owns this NE blog.My inclination has always been towards FFK.He writes all forms of jargons on this blog and he is a strong critic of the GEJ goverment and a romancer of APC,though he seems not to know where to pitch his tent now.For the issue on BOKO HARAM,can you get this you articulated comparison of BOKO HARAM and NIGER DELTAN millitant across to the APC and other only-northen- element- must- rule- at- all -cost -apologist?They need to read and learn and stop being sentimental and blinded by relgious folishness into demanding manesty for these stark illiterates and demeted vampires called BH.
