Damaturu road has remained a death trap with series of ambushes, particularly last year during which over 50 passengers and motorists were killed with over 20 vehicles set ablaze in a single ambush by terrorists.
Our Correspondent gathered from reliable sources that “the gunmen suspected to have been from Sambisa Forest enroute a new destination attempted to cross over the busy road Thursday evening, and on sighting vehicular movement, ordered drivers of two vehicles to stop, and when the drivers refused, they opened fire on the vehicles .
“Immediately when the terrorists rushed to the ill-fated vehicles, they opened fire on the occupants before using knives to slaughter ten of them” , the source said.
Continuing, ” Some motorists upon sighting the danger had to make u-turn and quickly drove to Maiduguri, while others found their way back to Beneshiekh and Damaturu, where they reported the incident to security operatives.
He added that, although, the securitymen responded swiftly by mobilizing to the scene where they succeeded in killing some of the terrorists in an exchange of gunfire, others fled into the bush.
When contacted on phone for confirmation, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Gideon Jubrin said he is not aware of the incident, but a top security source confirmed the incident, adding that, “about 10 people were killed while some vehicles were seized on Maiduguri- Beneshiekh road by suspected terrorists on Thursday evening”. ReplyDeletePls we shd stop calling peple names pple names on the forum. Well, no matter wht is happpening at the moment, I am of the OPINION tht GEJ Will still wun 2015. When I try talking with some of my friend, and pple in news stands. Wht I keep hearing is that NO matter the happenings in the country at the moment, they will still cast there vote fpr GEJ. And most of the reason was that other parties had not been able to produce someone really credible. I may be wrong, but I think Nigerian vote more for INDIVIDUALS than for party lines
