Atiku shares #BringbackOurGirls picture, decries photo edit to mock him

Former Nigerian Vice-president on Monday evening threw his support at the #BringBackOurGirls movement as he joins millions of people on the social media by carrying a #BringBackOurGirls placard.

He tweeted in response to the new Boko haram video, 'Now we have proof our girls are alive. We must do everything to bring them home alive'

However NigerianEye's investigation showed that his picture was edited, as the hashtag was changed into the Naira sign, and circulated on social media by many Nigerian youths, and alleged as the picture he initially posted.

Many Facebook/Twitter followers mocked the ex-vice president, calling him fraudulent, suggesting that he has had too much of the Naira, he can't differentiate it from the hashtag (#)

However Atiku played down the mockery and said the safety of the girls is the most important thing.

He tweeted, 'I see that my photo supporting #BringBackOurGirls has been edited. It's rather unfortunate - this abduction issue is very serious!

I'm appealing to our young people to focus their creative energy on actively calling for the safe return of our girls. #Bringbackourgirls

Only someone without human feelings would trivialise this issue. These girls could have been my daughters. Or your sisters

For avoidance of doubt, I will say again that we must all unite, and speak as one country #BringBackOurGirls'
