Jonathan’s re-election is my priority - Wike

The Supervising Minister of Education, Chief Nyesom Wike, has said that his priority was to ensure the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan and not the governorship position of the state.

Wike spoke on Saturday when he visited a former militant leader, Chief Soboma Jackrich (aka Egberipapa) in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State. Describing the Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi as a drowning politician, the minister urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state to work as a family and ensure the re-election of President Jonathan. “A house divided against itself cannot stand. My priority is to ensure the re-election of the president in 2015 and not who succeeds Governor Rotimi Amaechi.

The governor (Amaechi is an insensitive, irresponsible and drowning politician,” Wike stated. He explained that his visit was part of his consultations aimed at boosting thechances of President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the 2015 presidential election.

Speaking at the Jackrich’s residence, the minister lauded his (Jackrich) commitment and doggedness in promoting President Jonathan’s administration and the People Democratic Party.

Wike assured the ex-fighter that the state PDP under his (Wike) leadership wouldfairness, equity and justice, promising his commitment to politicians that have worked hard for the party.
The minister pleaded with members of the state PDP to work together in order to ensure that President Goodluck Jonathan wins the 2015 presidential election and justify his (Jonathan) efforts towards transforming the country.

“As the leader of the party and a loyal party man, I will always abide by the rules and wishes of the party. When the time comes, all stakeholders will sit together as a family to choose who will represent the party in the 2015 gubernatorial election in the state,” the minister said.

Responding,Jackrich, who is the founder of Kengema Unity Forum, expressed gratitude to Wike for the visit, just as he commended the minister for his (Wike) for his loyalty to President Jonathan.

The former militant leader also thanked the minister for repositioning the PDP in the state, promising that KUF will continue to sensitize and mobilize the people towards ensuring that President Jonathan was re-elected in 2015.

Jackrich observed that activities of the Grassroots DevelopmentInitiative in the area were creating division among party members.

  2. Very incompetent, senseless and unfocused man! Your priority is not working hard to ensure millions of Nigerian youths that have been forced to remain at home as a result of ASUP strike get back to class, but seeking the re-election of the president. This is what happens when you've got a square peg in a round hole. The President needs to be blamed b'cos it's obvious he appointed this block-head a minister for his selfish desires and not b'cos he's qualified for the job.

    1. It's people like you that are dragging this nation backward with the way you think. Let's call a spade a spade no matter who or what is involved. This is no time for sentiment please. Is this thug of a minister supposed to be a campaign manager or a minister of education? It's obvious he doesn't even know his jurisdiction and that is why education keep deteriorating in this country...when you appoint the wrong people for the job!
