Yusuf, who was a pilot, died early yesterday in a ghastly motor accident on the Abuja Airport Road.
At the time of the accident, the Vice-President was away in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania representing Jonathan at the country’s golden jubilee anniversary.
He returned to Nigeria yesterday and headed to the National Mosque where a brief funeral service was conducted in honour of the deceased.
The deceased remains were later interred at a cemetery in Abuja.
Jonathan described the circumstances of the deceased’s death as saddening. He said yesterday was one of the saddest days in Nigeria.
He said: “We are all mere mortals. All of us are from the earth, we must all go back to the earth. We do not know the timing of this journey all of us must make. This world is a place where we come to play our different roles. He left too early. Maybe he left when the ovation is loudest. He left at a time we needed him most. But there is nothing we can do.”
Sambo said the deceased, who was his immediate younger brother, was one of the most experienced pilots in the country. He thanked the President for leading government officials to condole with him.
Senate President, David Mark, yesterday commiserated with Vice President Namadi Sambo and his family over the untimely death of his younger brother, Captain Sabo Sambo, in a motor accident.
Mark in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Paul Mumeh, in Abuja, regretted that the nation has lost one of her best pilots and officers of very high repute.
He prayed the Almighty Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and the deceased family the fortitude to bear the loss. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

But they have NEVER, either by words or actions condoled the parents and relatives of all that have been killed by BH and roads/air accidents. Nonsense!! Death knows not if one is the president or president's siblings - all must die!! Period
