A 70-year-old man, identified as Baba Ijemo, has committed suicide. The deceased was found hung inside his bedroom in his Olorombo home in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The corpse of the deceased, a father of seven, was discovered on Monday afternoon by neighbours and co-tenants. The corpse had begun to decay when found.
As a result of the odour emanating from the room, the neighbours, curious to find out the reason for the smell, peeped through his window only to discover the dead man’s body dangling on a rope tied around his neck.
The residents then reported the matter to the police who visited the scene and commenced investigation. His family members were then contacted.
When our source visited the scene on Tuesday, residents and neighbours were seen discussing the incident. While some could not give reasons for what might have caused it, others said he might have been frustrated due to neglect by his immediate family; noting that none of his seven children had visited him for a long time.
