The Peoples Democratic Party has alleged that an unnamed leader of the All Progressives Congress got a contract of N84bn from the suspended Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mallam Lamido Sanusi.
The party said this was one of the reasons why the opposition party was pained when President Goodluck Jonathan suspended the CBN governor.
Apart from this, the party also alleged that another leader of the APC got another N5bn consultancy contract while Sanusi was in office.
The National Publicity Secretary of the ruling party, Chief Olisa Metuh, made the allegation at a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday.
Metuh was commenting on the unveiling of the APC manifesto, which he said lacked character.
He said, “The spirited defence for the suspended Central Bank Governor mounted by the APC was because the leaders of the party benefitted immensely from Sanusi.
“A fraudulent N84bn contract was awarded to a leader of the party while another N5bn was paid to another stalwart of the party as consultancy fee.”
Metuh refused to give the names or the details of the contracts.
When asked for reaction, the Interim National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, promised to react “soon.”
He said he was attending a summit in Abuja.
Meanwhile, Metuh has described the manifesto which was released on Thursday as a product of what he called “Janjaweed ideology.”
He also described the manifesto as a roadmap to anarchy which he said was typical of all anti-democratic coalitions and claimed that the manifesto lacked character, depth and that it completely addressed no issue.
Metuh said the manifesto ranked security of lives and property low and that it gave no clue as to its preparedness to tackle terrorism.
He added that the manifesto was a tacit acknowledgment that the APC might be benefiting from the mayhem and knew more than meet the eyes about the spate of terror attacks in the country.
He said, “When last year in its first official outing, the leaders of the APC said terrorism in Nigeria would disappear within 100 days of APC leadership, Nigerians did ask if they knew the characters in the crime and their sponsors. APC gave silence as an answer while Nigerians kept wondering.
“Today, the party has released its manifesto with loud silence on the matter so that Nigerians would not raise further questions on the face behind the terrorism mask.”
On job creation and war against corruption which the APC projected as cardinal on its manifesto, Metuh said the APC had no credible recipe for job creation nor had it shown the strength of character to fight corruption more than the PDP.
He said, “The PDP created anti-corruption agencies – the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and established the Freedom of Information Act to further give teeth to the war on graft.
“The PDP-led Federal Government has also shown no preferences in its battle against corruption as senior party leaders as well as relations have at one time or another been made to face the law on charges of corruption.” Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

PDP is gone. We need to behave like Americans atleast for once and have a change to see any alternatives. Forget who are the leaders of APC. Nigeria will always be govern by Nigerians.
ReplyDeleteIs it the party or the people that made up the party?. APC is made up of all ex PDP fustrated people. The America you referred to have alternative and ideological focussed and distinct parties. So in Nigeria, there is no alternative. Stop living in a fool's paradise. Wake up!
DeleteWe are not Americans and American parties have credibility and people dont generally swing from one party to the other because their politics has ideology. APC are all bunch of thieves and former thieves. So they are not an alternative to our issues. If Nigeria is to become great then we must reform the only truly national party we have that cuts across religion and ethnic bias and also is not influenced by one particular godfather; and that party is pdp. Leaders come and go in pdp but in Apc you only have a gang ruling perpetually.
DeleteYes, it is not surprising
ReplyDeleteCan Mr. Metuh please list the number of PDP contractors in this country, or can he quote any law that prohibits non PDP contractors from doing any contract in their own country?Noise maker!
ReplyDeleteFraudulent contracts mr everfrank and that explains the uproar from apc.
DeleteI guess Mr Everfrank is reading through his nose. There's a difference between awarding a contract following due process and fraudulent means. Everything about Sanusi Lamido and contract at CBN is fraud. FRCN has a proof for it.
DeleteAnything involving APC is fraud
ReplyDeleteApc is not a political party is just a political company owned by Tinubu
ReplyDeleteTime shall tell just hold your breath till 2015 oh APC Nigerian's are wise now oooh. Coz God owns Naija n not man.
ReplyDeleteBarawo Party! thieves! Ole people!
ReplyDelete@Everfrank you are chatting rubbish, the issue is not about contractors,Is about Sanusi awarding contract to individual in opposition party such as“apc” without the knowledge and approval of the Federal government,Is the suspended CBN governor “Sanusi lamido” suppose to award contract to Apc while appointed by the ruling party without the approval of the authourity concern?next time think before you ask silly question becos it has has no base.
ReplyDeleteMr aanonymous! 12.13 I'm sure if u read ur comment later on u wld be ashamed of urself ...so awarding contracts to opposition party is a crime abi...see ignorance at its height...d idiot called metuh has made a statement let him back up his statements with facts or proof of fraud in d contract award...not for him to be yapping at d mouth like a rabid dog
DeleteThis man must tell Nigerians first where is the billions of $ Mr. Sanusi is talking about. Also, why is it now that Sanusi talked of the missing money that PDP remembers that he awarded contract to APC member.
ReplyDeleteTalking of Security, where is security of lives and property today under the PDP? Is an innocent Nigerian saved from Boko Harram attack?
On anti-corruption war, does PDP allow anti-corruption agencies to do their jobs?
From Nouh Ribadu’s forceful exist, PDP has no moral justification to talk of fighting corruption in Nigeria.
Where is the man that stole Police Pension Money?
What happens to those road contracts awarded and re-award by PDP administration?
What happens to billions of Naira on fuel subsidy?
Talking of creating jobs in Nigeria is not PDP that can accuse others.
A clear example is importation of refined fuels. A secondary school student knows that it is better to buy what you do not have and not reverse. From time to time, PDP bans used vehicles while up till now, Nigeria cannot manufacture one. Instead of finding solution, PDP members are importing flashy cars that they could not dreamt of when they were walking without sleepers not to talk of shoes.
Does Mr. Metuh know that millions of jobs are being created for those countries that refine our crude oils?
Big shame on you and PDP that is selling our blood to others. And I pray you people really know that you are disgracing our great country with your dishonesty and looters among you.
With all above, I still believe PDP can polish its image before next elections. If not, enough is enough!!!
Abeg tell the Mr everfrank to do his homework.
ReplyDeleteEverfrank thanks for asking intelligent question. All Nigerians have the right to be awarded contract as long as the said contract goes through an open process of procurement.
ReplyDeleteMr Metuh should stop blowing dust into our eyes because the time of ignorance when such political lies use to work on Nigerians has past. What is wrong if Sanusi awarded a contract to a Nigerian who belong to different political party from Mr Metuh through an open process? Must contract be awarded to only PDP party members? Is Nigeria PDP or are all Nigerian PDP members? Mr Metuh stop disgracing yourself and your party
No way 4pdp again. Ooooleee.
ReplyDeleteTinubu does not have the moral right to accuse PDP of corruption when he has cornered all the resources of lagos to himself and family. His daughter is iyaloja of lagos, the wife a Senator, son in law also in gov. Sanusi is APC member.
ReplyDeleteCan a servant be above his master? How can Sanusi award such contract with the knowledge of his boss? I b/l he report to someone who should be carried along if is not a frudlent one.And some one is busy comparing Niji with America.
ReplyDeleteHaba, Nigerians wake up. life is a risk. if u wanna progress, u must risk d future. people in luv with PDP are afraid of APC thinking they are worst. please let's risk it first... aren't u tired of PDP? since 1999
ReplyDeleteThe mind game ,people are so used to a tormentor and wouldn't like to risk another tormentor,oh God our help in ages past our hope for years to come,PDP has become a monster and people are docile,,Who shall set the people free,I feel like crying
