Chelsea’s title aspirations suffered a huge set back on Saturday as the Blues were handed a 1-0 defeat by Crystal Palace.
An own goal from Chelsea captain, John Terry, was all Palace needed to smile away with the three points on offer in Saturday’s Week 32 game and keep their survival hopes alive.
In the 52nd minute of the surprisingly even encounter, defender Terry was at the end of the ball at the wrong side as the Blues’ skipper misjudged Joel Ward’s cross and inadvertently flicked past Petr Cech to put the home side in front.
Attempts at a comeback by Chelsea were futile even as Palace threatened to extend their lead with well calculated counter-attacks.
Saturday’s result now makes it two away defeats in a row for Chelsea, who remain top of the table but could be overtaken by both Manchester City and Liverpool if they win their games in hand.
