There are indications that the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Victor Ochei may have resigned as Speaker of the House according to Vanguard.
Ochei, who represents Aniocha North constituency in the state Assembly is one of the governorship aspirants in the state in 2015.
Our Source told our reporter that he decided to resign following alleged report that no fewer than 19 members of the 29-member House have signed an impeachment notice against him pending the resumption of sitting on Tuesday’s, which is the House’s next sitting.
Reasons for the impeachment move were still sketchy at press time.
Although, there is no official confirmation to the resignation, but a highly-placed Peoples Democratic Party, PDP member told our reporter on phone, Sunday that “what confirmation are you waiting for? He has resigned.”
It was also gathered that the embattled Ochei had called his aides and addressed them on the development. None of his aides volunteered to speak at press time.
Although Ochei was reported to have dismissed it as a rumour, saying that he would be attending the signing of this year’s budget at Government House, Monday to be performed by the governor. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
