The latest attack on Sunday — just a day after at least 74 were killed in three separate strikes — hit the town of Mafa in Borno state, Boko Haram’s historic stronghold.
The militants had sent fliers to the town earlier in the week, warning of an impending attack, a tactic used by the extremists elsewhere in the region, said Zanna.
Following the threat, some people fled, schools were closed and military reinforcements were deployed in the town roughly 45 kilometres (28 miles) northeast of Borno’s capital, Maiduguri.
But when the attack began “the soldiers fled because they could not match the firepower and numerical strength of the gunmen,” Zanna told AFP.
“Twenty-nine people have been buried from the attack by Boko Haram,” he said.

I wish there was a way to tell these people that Jesus loves them... he is the only assurance of salvation. There is no need to fight Jihad or die in the cause of allah in order to try to assure yourself of salvation. Jesus said that whoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life - John 3:16, he also said that he is the only way to heaven - John 14:6. Everyone who truly believes in christ is assured 100% of heaven. There is no need to stive in the cause of allah, God can strive in his cause by himself!
