APC DARES PDP: Show Us Evidence Of Opposition’s Complicity With Boko Haram

The APC (All Progressives Congress) has dared Nigeria’s ruling party (Peoples Democratic Party) to make available to Nigerians any evidence of the opposition’s alleged involvement in the ongoing Boko Haram insurgency.

On Friday, March 21, in Lagos, the APC said in a statement made by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed: "We have absolutely no hand in this insurgency, and we dare anyone with contrary information to publish such today. It is trite that he who alleges must prove."

The APC said if the PDP does not show such evidence of its claim, then it would conclude that the PDP’s claim "is a ploy to divert attention from those who are actually behind the insurgency, those who see it as a trump card to 2015 and those who have been benefitting massively from the huge funds being allocated to security."

On Tuesday, March 18, the PDP had in a statement accused the opposition of sponsoring the insurgency.
The PDP spokesperson, Olisa Metuh said: "We accept the reality of terrorism as a global phenomenon, however, the peculiar trend of the Nigerian version which subsists on a welter of nebulous demands and masked identities, hacking down innocent Nigerians: women, children and the elderly in an awful scorch earth fashion, and in an obstinate ridicule of dialogue, defies all reason and logic and only summarizes a well considered agenda of national destabilization for a purely selfish political cause. We pointedly finger the opposition."

In another statement on Thursday, Mr. Metuh claimed that the APC was planning a violent overthrow of the government of Mr. Jonathan, by sponsoring terrorism; in case the opposition party loses the 2015 election.
However, the APC claimed the latest accusation by the PDP is being made to frame up the opposition and clamp down on its leaders ahead of the 2015 general elections.

The opposition party also accused the PDP of selectively picking out information from the APC’s statement.
The APC reiterated its earlier statement that "the only reason this insurgency has persisted is the incompetence, cluelessness, inferiority complex and collusion of the presidency."

"First, we heard from no other personality than President Jonathan himself that his cabinet is infested with Boko Haram. Then the PDP started pointing fingers at some imaginary opposition leaders as being behind the insurgency, and now the President has openly admitted his own incompetence by saying his administration has been treating terrorism with kid gloves," the APC said.

  1. PDP. A party full of mediocres, thugs and dullards. What do u expect? They have short memories that is why they forgot the careless statements they gave their president to read in public. Imagine all the waste on special advisers nd yet see funny comments and allegations that they make. No CEO will have such advisers and expect to succeed. That is what is happening to Nigeria. Shapeless pegs in square holes. Cos if they were round, it will only require little shaping.

  2. If Nigerians want a future for their country, they must get rid of the PDP. In a country that has 80% unemployment for university graduates and more than 60% unemployment in general, what else do you need to immediately make a change? The country must be placed under new management, otherwise it will perish. Young people, where are you? This is your future! Get rid of tribalism, get rid of corruption which is what PDP represents. Face reality, save your generation and those that come after you! Posted by a non-partisan citizen.

  4. It is the reponsibility of the government to provide adequate security for its citizens, except the serving government has accepted its failure and cry for help. Is it the govt that assistance has not been offered and pushing blame and try to rope the opposition that the same opposition will offer to assist?, The current govt is nothing but clueless about what to do with any aspect of the economy. The challenges has swallow them, arrogancy will not allow them to open up and genuinely seek for help. In a sane country; what happened last week that they call recruitment is sufficient for a President to resign and accept his incapability
