The students, thereby, defiled the state government uniform specification recently introduced in all public secondary schools in the state as part of the schools reclassification programme.
Apart from the riotous outfits, the students also sang different religious songs while on the assembly for the morning devotion.
While the Christian students who wore white garments sang Christian songs, the Muslim students who appeared in veil sang Muslim songs.
Worried by the development, the school authority hurriedly sent the students to their various classrooms and informed the state Ministry of Education of the development.
Reacting, the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Sunday Akere said government was aware of the development and was making efforts to bring sanity back to the system.
He said officials of the state Ministry of Education have been drafted to the school to prevent further breakdown of law and order. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

Nigeria is a secular state with many kinds of religion, if moslems are allowed to wear their religion dress(Ijab) to a baptist school, the the authority is inviting anachy. I suggest that all student syncronise their uniforn in all public school in the country to reflect the actual school uniform, no more no less, anyone who want to extend the religious practise to school should enrol in a religious private school that serves her purpose. The Government should wisen up before Satan hijack the govrenment and unlease religious terror.
ReplyDeleteMay GOD Save Osun From The Hand Of This Fanatic (Aregbesola)) Who Mistakingly find himself in government house....
ReplyDeleteFor crying out loud, this is a baptist school and if the muslims students can't abide by baptist rules, they should look for a muslim school. Many Nigerians, over decades, attended missionary schools of religions other than their own and they didn't cause trouble.
ReplyDeleteThe government should have nipped this in the bud from the onset, but I guess that was just not important to them.
I'm a muslim and it's really annoying when this kind of nonsense is allowed to happen.
And whoever is encouraging these children to be like this should be purnished. Of course, they can't escape the wrath of God.
Ok.Is this the change APC will bring in Nigeria? This is what will even happen should there be state police which some of them are advocating for.
ReplyDeleteAregbesola is an idiot. Honestly.
ReplyDeleteWhat rubbish! Why do people like trouble, & keep giving Islam a bad name all round! The name of the school is"Baptist High School", for Christ's sakes! It's not "Zumratul Islammiya", or such similar moniker! If desire to go to a Baptist School, then please obey their rules, & regulations, of which dress code is a part. Likewise, a Christian that decides to a faith-based school, be it Islamic, Hindu, or whatever, should be prepared to abide by whatever rules, & regulations apply there. People should stop creating unnecessary tension. The whole nation is grappling with more than enough trouble as it were.
ReplyDeleteIslam as a religion is so problematic!!! They even know it!!! He knows thats a christian Baptist school for God's sake!!!!! If that was an Islamic school initially, they would never ever allow this to happen!!!!!
ReplyDeleteA typical abuse of Human Right! .....the right of a moslem to practise his rituals in a christian school. The next action is to start jihad. Then it will not be the right of the student to serve their God through Christ. May God forgive them for they know not what they are doing.
ReplyDelete@ Anon12:59pm- I would like to correct your statement. Islam is not problematic.I've been a muslim for 35yrs of my life and see nothing wrong with Islam. It is some individuals who have problems with other people's religion. Having your kind of mindset would only make things worse. We are supposed to try and outnumber those troublemakers. God help us
ReplyDeleteIJAB OR VEIL IS TOTALLY WRONG IN SCHOOL, UNIFORM MEANS SAME THING, THAT IS ALL SHOULD PUT THE SAME DRESS IN , REACHING HOME U CAN PUT ON WHATEVER U LIKE. DONT LET US DESTROY OUR YORUBA LAND, IN A SINGLE FAMILY WE HAVE MUSLEM AND CHRISTIANS, DURING SALAH I MOVE AROUND TO MY MUSLEM FRIENDS HOUSES TO EAT LIKEWISE THEY DO THE SAME DURING XMAS. I STAND TO BE CORRECTED
ReplyDeleteHmmmm, comments from simpleton from different ethnic and educational backgrounds. What makes any school Christian or Islamic? These are schools funded purely by government from money of all including traditionalists. They are not funded with money of any mission and so everybody in all public schools have equal rights. Emex and co should get this into their brain
ReplyDeleteThis problem has got nothing to do with the governor now. What else do you want him to do?
ReplyDeleteYou whi says someone like Aregbesola is an idiot is the BIggest Idiot. I your father shares part of this idiot. I am not fom O sun but is wrong to abuse someone directly like that. This shows how local you are. In a civilized state no one dare to call someone idiot. His grand children will not be able to complete the fine he will get from the court of law.
ReplyDeleteSay yr opinion but not abuse. Muslims cannot be chested as you use to do in olden days. So call christians should know things has changed. So becareful with yr behaviours and utterances. No more missionary schools they are all government and a muslim is a citizen who must be free to practise his/her own religion.
Let peace reign in Osun. Govt can create new muslim & separate xtian schools where students can dress according to their religion dress code. The sky is wide enough for all birds to fly without collision. What is the fate of their teachers? how should they dress? What about traditional worshipers? Should they come to Baptist High School with native cap (abetiaja), agbada and fetish horn, local rings, charms, masquerades, palm leaves, occultic regalia, etc. God forbid bad things. Give peace a chance.
