Nigerian polytechnic lecturers vow to continue ASUP strike

The ongoing nationwide strike by polytechnic lecturers is set to continue as the National Executive Council, NEC, of the lecturers’ union, ASUP, rejected the federal government’s offer.

The National Publicity Secretary of ASUP, Clement Shirman, told newsmen that after a three-hour meeting on Wednesday, the NEC of ASUP resolved that until all 13 issues contained in its demand are met, the strike would continue.

The lecturers have been on strike since October 1, 2013, demanding among others better working condition, infrastructure improvement, and an end to discrimination of polytechnic graduates.

  1. Exacty, imagine since October they have been on strike, so students had been at home over three month. Why is it that GJE as d refused to show concern to education. Well am not blaming him whn lawyer is choose as a minister of education without checking how he became lawyer. When somebody who only know the meaning of masses and has never tasted the life of masses before is choosed as finance minister that is why she turns life against masses forgotten that only her family can not vote for GJE to win election. That is why you see strike everywhere in GJE administration. Meaning all of them are not competent.
