Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona is reportedly keen on making a sensational return to football.
According to Metro.co.uk, known simply as ‘God’ and considered to be the best player of all times , the 53-year-old legend is said to be in touch with the Argentine club Deportivo Riestra, over a deal to join them till the season’s end.
The report mentioned that Maradona was put in touch with the club by one of his advisors who owns shares there, and is said to make his debut on March 23.
A source from Riestra club has confirmed that the paperwork has been filed with the authorities and in a few weeks the legendary footballer would be playing for the club.
The 1986 World Cup winner who was allegedly struggling with his weight in recent years is now in good enough shape to start a match on March 23.

ReplyDeleteProbably he is broke and needs money. That is the problem of most athletes who retire early or has financial misfortune. Maradona was known then as suffering from cocaine addiction, though he has been reported as clean now for a long time. But obviously he would have wasted a lot of money on the addiction and subsequent re-habilitation. So he needs the money. But can a 53 years old man play like a young man? Can his heart take the stress? Is this not a way of damaging his legacy? He is known as one of the greatest football player of all time, after playing for a season, will he still be known as such? That is the question.
